Poorly maintained room. First off, as we were leaving for a massage the slider did not lock. When I called the front desk the person said "Oh, well it is pretty safe around here." Really? You know everyone that checked in? You can guarantee the couple who looked like they had not showered in days, who were hitch hiking in front of Original Joes were not going to come onto the property? You know that no one stopping at Original Joes would not cross over to the hotels parking lot (no fence), and look for rooms unlocked? (I saw at least four people walking across the back lawn where this unlocked slider door was. I don't care if they are wearing polo shirts, anyone can come in and steal my laptop!) So after insisting she send someone, and after being told they might not be able to fix it, someone comes (Now mind you, I am now late for my massage at Cloud Nine, all because the management here cannot maintain their locks.) He fiddles with it, slams the door, opens the door, fiddles some more and some more (no tools were being used), and opens and shuts it (as my massage time is a ticking) and finally he gets it to lock. I ask what was wrong. He does not know, now it is locked. Guess I don't get to open my door again (and when I do in the morning, I cannot lock it to go to breakfast, meaning I had to pack my car first and drag my damn lap top to breakfast). Ceiling fan was not working and there was no switch for it (was it only for looks, in this room that was now 85 degrees with the heater off?), so at 11pm I was brought a fan which was so dirty and dusty I had to wipe it down and wash my hands after handling it. Needless to say, my nightgown got the dirt on it and I could not longer wear it. I do not understand why the desk person did not wipe it down. (We stayed on June 10, 2013 in room 115). Water pressure in shower was non existant. I have long hair and it took me over five minutes of standing there to rinse hair. I finally got out of the shower and finished in the sink. The only way the sliding bathroom door would close was by slamming it shut, otherwise it stopped three inches shy. Not a pleasant smell when one wants the door closed. Opening this door was hard, once I slammed it entirely shut. Hmmm, not a very good ADA room. A terrible room overall considering the price paid ($180 with tax).

This was a great alternative to the ritz for a place to stay near the golf course. Great continental breakfast, clean rooms, and great location. Would stay here again for sure! 'Camerons' is a great pub/restaurant not far down the road (to the north) that has great English fare. Check it out!!

Just back from another great visit to Half Moon Bay and SF. The Half Moon Bay Lodge fits our needs perfectly: attractive grounds, attentive staff, great view from our balcony, comfortable and nicely decorated rooms, nice breakfast spread in an attractive setting -- all at a decent price. I sleep better here than I do at home! Even our teenage son looks forward to staying here -- possibly the whirlpool??? Terry was very welcoming and informative about the area and chose a nice room for us - thanks!

Half Moon Bay Lodge is a great place to stay. Beaches are nearby and the quaint downtown of Half Moon Bay is a short distance away. We also enjoyed Purissima Creek (about 4 miles away) with its beautiful Redwoods! The complimentary breakfast including eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, waffles, etc was plentiful and delicious. Hotel staff was very friendly! Our room faced the neighboring golf course; we were able to sit on the large balcony and watch. The bed was relatively comfortable and the room was clean. The price was a bit high for an older hotel but it's because of its location. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in one of their redecorated rooms at a special value rate. Room was tastefully done and the bed was one the best ever. Complimentary breakfast was excellent. Desk staff was helpful. Still a few signs of old rooms--drain in tub didn't work.
