Great stay!
Had a great stay, everything you could ask for from a fairmont hotel, spacious clean room, knowledgable friendly and helpful staff. This hotel can be used as a jumping point to many places that are near e.g. Sonoma, Santa Cruz, San Francisco. I have nothing negative to report. We had great meals at the outlets. Our stay was memorable, we'll be back.

quality hotel at excellent location
The Fairmont is located in downtown, close to transportation, restaurants, San Jose State and venues. Restaurant offers good breakfast. Rooms in the tower are newer and quieter. President's club offers free WiFi

Great location, quiet rooms, comfy bed
I stayed here while attending a conference at the Convention Center. The location was perfect--easy to find from the freeways and not at all too far after long and full days at Convention, but far enough to stretch the legs and enjoy some sunshine. And good selection of places to eat all around. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and the hotel felt very secure. The room itself (in the second building, 5th floor) wasn't a big standout--typical hotel room with typical hotel furnishings (and no open plug for nightstand cell phone, so it had to be charged across the room on the desk). But the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and the room was peaceful (barely a peep from outside or neighboring guests), bright, and very spacious. Decent view of the mountains. The bathroom was very large and well appointed; lovely bath; roomy enough shower; great mirrors; and nice toiletries, too! Common areas near reception are elegant and bustling, though it's plenty easy to find a quiet spot to tuck away; and there was a small but delicious breakfast bar. Recommend!

Best Place Ever
Beautiful, welcoming, professional . Great rooms. Fantastic bar with dancing. Everyone came from their hotels to party at mine. The grill great food . All the restaurants were very good. I had some trouble with the climate control other than that stellar. I was concerned it would be too far to walk to the convention center but it was very easy.

A charming stay
The first thing that strikes you as you drive into the hotel is how friendly the staff are. The door man, spanish-african ethnic looks, has an elegant face and a very helpful demeanor. Unlike many hotels, he is not looking for tips but is out to help you. In a matter of seconds, I am convinced that the cost of leaving your car up is the same as if you were to drive it down to the basement yourself. In another few seconds, a bellhop is there taking your luggage in.As you enter the lobby, it is abuzz with excitement and activity. Bars are full (even at 4pm; Hmmm). After a few minutes at the reception, you are quickly escorted to your room. When you get off the elevator, the first thing you notice is how narrow the corridors are; sort of like old apartment buildings in Europe. The room is very tastefully done. There is the bedroom with a sofa, ottoman, a desk, a high cabinet that has the TV on it, and reading lights. There there is a smallish closet to keep your clothes and a very large bathroom that has both a shower and a tub. Bathroom supplies are elaborate and well thought through although the labels remind you of older medicine labels. The bed is divine but the pillows are a bit too thick and hard for my liking. The food is very average; at the food that was served at the conference. The conference facility itself was quite impressive. Even the room service food was quite ordinary. Maybe the non-vegetarian food was better.It is quite hard to get in and out of this hotel if you have business outside the city of San Jose. The freeways that link this beautiful hotel are almost always clogged. If your stay is limited to the city limits of San Jose, this may be the paradise you want to indulge in.
