Lovely Location and Attentive Staff
We recently spent 5 nights at this resort attending an on-site wedding. The food was good, the views were terrific and the staff was uniformly friendly. The location is convenient to all of the Cal. coast south of San Francisco down to Carmel.

Terrible Experience
I stayed at this hotel for a work off-site. Upon arrival, I observed mosquitos in my room. I called the front desk to determine if the resort would change my room, they refused saying that mosquitos were common. During the night, I was bitten several times. The room itself was outdated and dirty. For example, there were rings and dust on top of and underneath the glass table tops. The bed posts were also very dusty. There were dust bunnies behind the bedside tables, which I found when I searched for a place to plug in my computer (there was none bedside). The safe in the room had a hole where the lock was supposed to be inserted. In addition, the safe was unusually small regardless. I was unable to place my normal sized laptop in the safe.The room was not secure. The building doors were left propped open or unlocked all evening. There was no mini bar. The front desk clerk stated that there were vending machines available; however, I determined that the vending machine was located in the pool area and not even in the building. I asked for a cappuccino for two mornings in a row, and both times, different waitresses warned me not to have one because they said they were "terrible" or like ones you would get in a 7-Eleven. I began to wonder if they had a machine at all or it was broken.Finally, the circuit training equipment in the workout room was old and limited, and the cushions on the spa lounge chairs were stained and mildewed. I was finally moved to another room, which after my complaints, was thoroughly cleaned. This place needs a major overhaul.

Excellent Facility & Customer Service!
I had to book multiple rooms for my team - the staff was amazing and the property and rooms were large with beautiful views. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a very relaxed vibe.I did not have a chance to try out the spa, but the food was excellent! I would absolutely book at the Chaminade again and would recommend this hotel to others!Travel Tip:Call the hotel directly and not the 1-800 number. I received better service and was able to learn about some discounts that I could use for that same booking! :)

Poor Service
My co-worker and I were hosting a dinner at the restaurant and planned to stay that night. We she was working with the team on the dinner, she said she would need two rooms. When I checked in they said they didn't have a reservation in my name. I gave them my co-workers name, indeed both rooms were under her name. Even though I was giving them my credit card, they wouldn't let me check in until "they talked to her". The manager appeared and issued me a new reservation. This process took about 15 minutes given that "their computer system was slow". The dinner was fine, the view is great. When we went to check out the next day, both rooms were charged to my co-workers card. (Despite the challenge at check-in). Over the course of 30 minutes the front desk clerk attempted to separate the charges. I just checked my statement, I have six transactions from Chaminade and nothing is accurate. I understand that mistakes happen, but in 2013 it really shouldn't be this hard to fix. The food was okay, the restaurant staff are average. Given the challenges with reservation and charges, I wouldn't advise anyone stay here.

A fantastic Cali trip made even better.
The first time we arrived at Chaminade Dale, at the front desk, greeted us with the kindest, most helpful disposition. He proved our theory that CA offers some great hospitality and Dale is one of the best! We enjoyed our room, that Dale graciously upgraded from 2 queens to a king, with a private deck and beautiful natural surroundings. because of the gracious hospitality we encountered we came back two nights later for another stay after traveling the coast. we found that Dale had again gone above and beyond by making sure we had a ticket for a great breakfast buffet in the morning and a bottle of red waiting in our room. Chaminade is where we'll be staying in our soon to come, return to Santa Cruz. thank you Dale-you're an asset, and the rest of the staff was also completely charming and lovely!
