Great lighting
One of my pet peeves about hotels is the lack of adequate lighting if you want to read or work. The Fairmont is the exception. Plenty of lights, plus reading lights on both sides of the king sized bed. My room was clean and comfortable. Food was good, and the location is great. Only negative is the poor view from my room (a building right next door) - I heard some other guests mention that too. But overall, I recommend it!

Great Hotel for a Weekend in DC
My wife and I stayed at The Fairmont Washington DC on the Northwest side over Memorial Day weekend. We booked well in advance and got a nice rate on the room compared to the general rate so I consider our value for the money on this to be well above average. Like most hotels or resorts our happiness with the property generally matches perfectly with the level of service provided by the staff. This is why this property gets 5 stars from us. From the moment we got to the hotel to the moment we left, the level of service was excellent. If you haven't joined the President's Club yet (free), join before you check in. There aren't a considerable number of benefits but you do get a streamlined check-in (nice during busy check-in times) and free internet in the room ($12.95 per day). You also get a newspaper of your choice (local/national) delivered to your room each morning.Specific to this property, this hotel is roughly 10 blocks from Georgetown, which is a great place to shop and eat for a little less than downtown DC or high-end hotel prices. We walked over several times in around 10-12 minutes. If you want a cab (which we took everywhere) there are many lined up outside to take you wherever you need to go at the blow of a whistle. If you are looking at visiting DC and aren't leaving the area, I highly recommend foregoing renting a car and just taking cabs. It's much faster and cheaper - and the streets in DC are difficult to navigate, much less dealing with the cost of parking both at the hotel and elsewhere.The room was nice, well-kept, mini-bar, flat-screen, work-desk, etc.; the standard for an upscale hotel property. I don't mean to diminish the features by glossing them over by any means. If you're looking for a very nice hotel in DC that is on the quieter side of town, this is definitely the property to pick.

Amazing property
We had our wedding reception at this property and consider it "coming home" whenever we stay. They always go out of their way to make it special, and to make us feel welcome. Perfect for business, vacation, or romantic getaway! Love the twinkle light-lit interior courtyard and the nicest doormen in Washington.

Wonderful getaway
My wife and I went to DC for 4 days for our "babymoon" . We stayed at the Fairmont and were thoroughly pleased with our stay. The service was wonderful, the hotel and rooms were beautiful, and everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful.We even received an upgrade the 2nd night we were there. When we arrived in our new room, we were greeted by balloons, a baby onesie, a cheese platter and sparkling cider. This is just one example of how considerate and wonderful the staff were, especially Jimit Patel. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to be in the DC area.

Fabulous location in a friendly city
Very well appointed room with every amenity including coffee maker and huge flat screen HD TV. Door staff and everyone very friendly and efficient. Special mention goes to Mark Timms Executive Chef for his generous 'extras' as an ex pat to a UK visitor. Georgetown 10mins stroll away had many restaurants and bars. Fabulous city fabulous hotel
