Amazonia Estoril Hotel - don not pay for garden view
We paid a supplement for view to the garden or to the ocean. The hotel does not have a proper garden, only a small spot of green grass and a swimming pool not green at all. Ocean view suits were, ofcourse, not available.

Lovely, quiet place - but you've got to love the hills
I spent 4 days here and found the place cozy, quiet and very relaxing. The views and the atmosphere are wonderful, but you have to know that the location is a bit remote. While not too far from the Casino you still have to climb up and down the hill if you want to reach the beach or bus. The breakfast was okay, our room was huge and very clean. We took the public bus to Sintra which is breathtaking with all its castles. You can catch the bus right next to the train station from where you can conveniently go to Lisbon or Cascais. We did not need a car at all and traveled like the locals.

Small friendly and quiet
I stayed at this hotel in June with my husband and 5 year old sun in a self catering apartment. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The decor could be described as a bit bland as everything is white, however this was fine for our needs. Our balcony was reasonably small compared to some of the other rooms with only enough room for 2 chairs squeezed quite close together and no table, however this was our only gripe. The shower room was spacious and the shower itself was amazing! The kitchen facilities were adequate for our needs i.e. breakfast and snack preperation however there was no kettle! The communal areas of the hotel were tasteful and contemporary.A small pool and gardens are located outside with more than enough sun loungers for guests and also tables with parasols.We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on food quality.The service was friendly and efficient at reception and the apartment was cleaned daily to a high standard.This possibly isn't the best hotel to take children as there isnt much to entertain them apart from the pool however would suit couples.There are a few bars and restaurants nearby however we walked into Cascais most days, which is a lovely walk along the esplanade. I would recommend popping into the Escolithia Bar en route for some food and a drink as the food there is delicious and they have reasonable prices and friendly service. There are also many other bars and restaurants to chose from on the walk to Cascais but be aware that prices rocket in the town itself.I would recommend a stay at the Estoril Amazonia and I would stay there again!

Not very helpful staff
Between arriving at the hotel and getting to the room it took us 1 hour. First, there wasn't anyone in the reception for 20 minutes. After, there was a communication problem between the hotel and Booking.com. Instead of giving us the room and then solving the problem (it was their problem) the guy made us wait for 40 min. Getting to the room, we saw that there were two single beds instead of a double bed. We asked to change rooms, but he said that he would have to charge an extra to change to another room (this information wasn't available in the website we booked).Aside that the hotel is very modern and clea.

clean, comfortable, great location
The apartment had everything we needed and more. It was very clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet residential area, but there is easy access to the beach, the railways station and buses. It is a lovely walk from Cascais and felt safe at all times. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, but if you have walking problems be aware the this is a hilly area and there is a walk uphill from the beach to the hotel. I think it would be difficult to negotiate the pavements with a wheelchair owing to the condition of some and the number of cars obstructing them.
