We would return
We have just returned from holiday, staying at these apartments, and, found them to be perfect for our stay. The location was good, close to the 'Old Town', Harbour, and bus station to catch the bus for the dunes, the apartments themselves were clean with adequate self-catering facilities for us and the pool/pool bar area was also good and well-maintained. A tip re supermarkets, there is one very close to the apartments on the the way around to the harbour - this is cheaper and has a much wider range of stock than the ones in the resort centre! We ate at La Luna (1 dinner and 1 breakfast), and the food and service were really good. We would definitely look to stay again - as did other people we heard talking around the pool, some on their 13th/14th trip - so they must be doing something right.Tips on restaurants - can highly recommend Vistalobos (transforms from harbour view snack bar during the day to lovely restaurant at night) and Tropical Bar Rosi (next door to Vistalobos - fantastic caiprinhias!) (both on Avenida Maritima 32) and for tapas, Cafe Antiguo del Puerto (near the harbour).

Last minute change of reservation - poor!
this hotel mishandled my reservation, 7 days before my trip they've said that i have to go to a replacement accomodation. By that time i couldnt cancel my reservation without loosing 50% of what ive opaid for my booking. The first review i posted here on tripadvisor was deleted.Will not recomend the hotel and wsill not recomend onthebeach.

Location is everything ( almost )
4th visit over the last 10 years and it`s the location and V.F.M that brings me back every time. Worked out 25% cheaper coming with Ryanair than Thomas Cook ( inc. luggage and private transfers ). It is very close to resort centre and lots of authentic cannarian restuarants, try to avoid the tourist trap restuarants on the main street especially those the ones with English names but Canariarn owned, If you want an "English breakfast stay in England. La Luna restuarannt serves quality food at a reasonable prices and deals on multi buys, sit outside for great views of the ocean and Lobos.The rooms are well maintained and throughly cleaned on a regular basis. The staff are very helpful and efficient but be warned reception can be busy, although arranged car hire through them and all was as expected.Not everything is perfect so things to be aware of are The baths are slippy so put a hand towel at the bottom of the bath. If you are booking direct and light sleeper ask for a quietier room, ( may cost more ) some rooms on the far side of the hotel face out on to the main road to the ferry and are very busy from 7.30 am onwards.The pool area although clean and well maintained is small and has only 8 umbrellas and no other shady areas.The genuine tourist information you will really need can be found at The Blue Rock Bar, 5 minutes away towards town centre, where Julian and Claire and Jill will point you in the right direction. They also servre the best lager in frozen glasses and a real classy Mojito. Cheers

Certainly a place we'll return to
We chose this place on the back of a brief visit by our second son and family to join ourselves and our first son and family, who live nearby, a while ago. It's very handy for local amenities. We were comfortable enough in our apartment, which was kept clean and fresh by very pleasant maids. We managed to fuse the power supply in the room the second night, well, actually, the faulty kettle did it! Have a torch with you....it's easier to find the guilty fuse switch in the modern box behind the door! We only did this on the instruction of the girl on reception. Take GREAT care with the hot water, it is dangerously hot. I went out and bought a non-slip bathmat (there's a shop called Rocasa which sells all sorts of things domestic). They're not provided, but, as a more mature citizen, I found the bath very slippery to get into, almost falling at one stage. We believe that the 'guests' mentioned re towels in the pool area are possibly time sharers. Make sure you have your own or be prepared to hand over ¿¿¿20 deposit per towel borrowed. The pool area is very nice, especially with the 'astroturf' which borders much of the pool. It looks good, is non-slip and much cooler than the tiles in the heat. You will be given a discount ticket for the dining room for two meals. I was too tired to concentrate carefully on the reception girl's accent enough to discover was being offered. Someone told us that the offers for several day deals weren't so good as the menu was quite restricted. I don't know what Sime and Judes idea is of what is a cheap hotel, but that wasn't so for us. In spite of booking last August we paid through the nose. Possibly not the fault of the hotel but a combination of the travel agent I used and Thomas Cook. We intend to stay there agin when we next visit our family but will try and book direct with the hotel.

2nd visit and starting to look tired
We stayed here at Christmas - 2nd year. We thoroughly enjoyed last years visit and decided to stay again this year. The apartments are now showing signs of wear and we felt it needed painting and a good clean up. The staff were not that friendly and only spoke when we spoke to them. However, the lady behind the pool bar was very friendly and said hello everytime we passed and was efficient when serving.We ate breakfast in the restaurant that was attached to the hotel and the staff were friendly and efficient. The veggie breakfasts were lovely and very reasonable. Lots of options to suit all.The apartments are in a good location and just a short walk to various restaurants and bars. There are regular visitors to the apartments and despite their 'no towel on the bed' rule around the pool this seemed to not apply to them.For the price we paid it was a decent hotel and we enjoyed our stay. If you are after a cheap hotel in a good location then this is the place for you.
