Visited Santa Cruz de Tenerife with my boyfriend and stayed at The Mencey Hotel of his choice. Must admit was the perfect choice!The hotel itself is an impressive build & architecture and is very spacy. It is offering the best and biggest option for breakfast I have ever seen. We have also tried the lamb shank at dinner which confirmed the excellency of the kitchen staff.Beautiful and tranquil garden with a swimming pool, big green trees for your shade as well as al fresco area .If you prefer the real ocean beach - you only need to take a bus for 20 min.Staff was very helpful and arranged our request for a higher floors/ garden view room which made our visit at the hotel unforgettable. I strongly recommend you the place!

Actually I would like to give it 4.5 points, but unfortunately it's not possible. But between 5 and 4, I'll be generous and give 5...The hotel is all in one a very nice one. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, I slightly better English of some would be of an advantage. The room with the garden view was very clean, quiet and nicely furnished, it could be a bit bigger. Just big enough for two, if you have to get a baby bed, it's way to small for that. We upgraded to a juniour suite for the last week. That room was nearly perfect, except that the doors to the bathroom was made out of glass and was right opposite the bed, which looks cool, but is very unpractical at night, if you dont want to wake up your other half.The breakfast is good. Maybe they should watch out for the warm dishes a little better, as they were absolutely cold more than once... We booked halfboard, so we could enjoy a nice dinner every night there. The food was great, no complaints at all.The garden and the pool is nice and well looked after and poolside restaurant is open during the day and also offeres very nice food.There is underground parking in the hotel, which costs ¿¿¿12, per day, which is maybe a bit much, but we booked it for our stay, it is very practical, as the parking lots outside the hotel are very limited.Not to forget is the beautiful park right outside the front door. The walk to the city center is not a long one. There is also a number of very nice restaurants within walking distance.All in one, it was a very pleasant stay, if ever again in Santa Cruz we will look no further and stay there again.

We booked 30 hours before departure for this May Day bank holiday weekend break and I think we have been very lucky. All of these reviews ring true, but this hotel offers an exceptional experience for the price. The modern spa and pool extension is an architectural triumph, a stylish and tasteful juxtaposition of contemporary and traditional, set among a tranquil garden boasting a number of lounges and terraces, each offering a different experience. We have marvelled at this beautiful concrete addition since our arrival through its core from the car park beneath. It is graceful from every angle and in every light. If you want a weekend break with a Wallpaper-worthy sun deck, and a proper gym, you can't go wrong here.The hotel itself is also very nice. It's not a Four Seasons, but given the price you pay, it excels. The rooms are bright and contemporary, there is a plug-in for your iPhone, a mini-bar and a large comfortable bed. The bathrooms in the basic rooms are small and the lotions and potions could be upgraded, given that we are all travelling liquid-free these days. (We asked for extra and we got them.) Upgrades to suites and bigger rooms seemed readily available when we checked in. The basic rooms aren't small, so upgrade only for a view or a bigger bathroom, but not for the room. We were street-side, and there was no noise at all. The property, renovated in 2011, is in excellent condition. The main building is constructed around a colonial-style courtyard that floods the surrounding quadrangle with natural light. Discrete but nonetheless visible white-on-white relief way-finding, worthy of a gallery or museum, directs you to your room. Corridors on the floors are quiet and well lit and room service is onubtrusive.The fitness centre - always a good indicator for me - is modern and very well equipped with the latest kit. It's open to the elements when its cool enough and shielded from them by a glass wall, smart canopies and air conditioning when it's not. (Bring your cycling shoes - there's an excellent new spin bike.) Everything is in good condition and the attendant offers advice and keeps the place immaculate. I'm a gym-goer, not a spa person, so I can't comment on the latter.The breakfast service has an all-encompassing buffet. There is something for everyone. It's reasonable quality, and the pastries and bread are fresh. I defy anyone not to find a copious, indulgent or healthy breakfast here. The coffe, however, is shocking, and the water "boiler" would make a soothing poultice, but isn't hot enough to brew a decent pot from an otherwise impressive selection of teas. The morning brew is a ticket to entry and should be addressed, I think.If you are a five-star traveller, there is room for improvement for sure, but if you're honest about the price you paid for the pleasure of staying in a stylish, tranquil city centre retreat off the African coast, then this place deserves to do well.I think it's perhaps a sign of the times that a hotel of this standing has to take all the business it can get its hands on. This property would be a great adult hotel, but has quite a few families. They even let children in the hydro-therapy area of the spa. This seems confused. I'm not a spa person, but I wouldn't go into a spa where kids are running around in their arm-bands. I understand that a hotel can't ban children or deny rooms to selfish parents, but I think a spa should be a sanctuary for grown-ups. A policy on this might make sense.

Our stay at the Hotel Mencey was as good as it gets. The hotel is near a beautiful park and is in easy walking distance for the town centre and it's lovely shops ( we're only fairly fit OAPs) We stayed on abed & breakfast basis for 2weeks, This, we think, is a good idea as it allows you to eat out at the numerous friendly restaurants and to use the hotel's restaurant occasionally. They offer a daily menu at 37 euros with a choice of 2 dishes on 3 courses, a more expensive a la carte or, for a special occasion, a Degustation menu at 55 euros. The breakfasts were massive with the choices of fruits, cold meats, cooked full breakfast, pastries ,great breads, wine!!! juices etc etc.. Ours was a twin room with garden view which we would recommend to avoid the noise from the busy ring road. One tip, avoid rooms 181 to 187 as they are near the kitchen with the resulting noise and cooking smells. It's impossible to fault the service and the great facilities in the lovely garden with its pools, one for humans and one for the 120 terrapins

Superb hotel. Contemporary decor, very elegant and VERY clean. OK size room. Delicious breakfast including caviar! Great swimming pool with Wi-Fi there too so when I had to work, I could work by the pool :/. If you want to go to Tenerife just to have some parties and stay on the beach all day I would not recommend this hotel as it's quite a distance to the nearest beach which is also very crowded however If you like quality, going to rent a car (no problem to park on the road with no charges) and want to see the island I would RECOMEND this hotel as this is great point to go to all parts of the island. What I loved, if you connect your I- (pad, phone) something to the music system, you can listen your music in the bath!
