Tradition and elegance in the city centre
This hotel has been Trondheim's pride for many decades. Newly built hotels probably have more modern rooms, but can't match the atmosphere. Britania Hotel is traditional, warm and welcoming. A good choice for Trondheim.

Excellent family hotel
Our family of four stayed in the Privaten suite plus an attached double room, creating a spacious suite with two bedrooms. Despite a few minor maintenance issues, this suite provided everything we could ask for; very good beds, 2 bathrooms plus a separate toilet, no sound from traffic or surrounding rooms, and a very homey setting. Breakfast was excellent, with something for even the most demanding customer, and with a venue second to none. Location is optimal, smack in the middle of Trondheim with less than a 2 minutes walk to reach the most popular sights. Above all stands the pleasurable staff, ready to perform at all times. We know where to stay at the next convenience.

Great breakfast and spa but poor room maintanance.
The hotel has a perfect location. We got a family room for great value. The room was large, with nice furniture, but the bathroom had broken tiles and no fan/ ventilation. We had to use all the towels to soak up water on the floor and these were not replaced! Neither did they remove waste from our room. So we expexted more of the cleaning. On the bright side there was a wonderful breakfast buffet in a beautiful restaurant. The spa allowed children before noon, and that was great!

Wonderful SPA, terrible room/service.
I booked a "De Luxe"-double room for a weekend, and -judging by the pictures, we got a "superior" one for the same price. Dark, gloomy, boring with lousy furnishing. "worse than home" does not feel like a De Luxe-weekend. ;-)It was also not clean, the snacks on the table was lying in 2mm dirt/dust, the hairdryer and TV-remote dirty. We were very disappointed by the room, and called the reception straight away to ask if this room really was "De luxe" and just got the answer "Yes that is a De Luxe-room". No service offered, no questions if we were not satisfied.The Spa was the only thing to make us happy about choosing Britannia.

A Brief Visit
I must preface this review with the fact I did not stay very long in the Britannia Hotel. It was a quick over-nighter and thus did not make use of many of the facilities the hotel had to offer. I checked out before breakfast, an important consideration for most stays, was served.The Britannia Hotel is conveniently located in the center of town. It is a quick taxi ride from the Hurtigruten dock. It's most impressive aspect is the maze of hallways you might traverse to get to your room or the spa. My room and the bathroom in particular were very spacious. The view, as you can see in the photo, could only be inspirational to a brick layer. The bar and restaurant areas looked very nice in the early morning hours. The staff were non-descript. The answered any questions I had but with not a lot of enthusiasm or extra explanation.
