Comfortable, clean hotel. Good location.
You can easily walk from the main train station to this hotel. As you walk out of ticket hall, head straight across the road and keep walking. When you get to the river you will see a British theme pub on your right called The Bishops Arms. This pub is actually part of the hotel.The reception is clean, but homely. This isn't a modern hotel, although it has all the modern facilities. Check-in was quick, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The lifts to the rooms seem old fashioned but they do the job.The room itself was as good as I could have hoped for. The view wasn't great for me, as all I got was a window opening on to the internal courtyard. Very limited selection of TV channels. Room service choice also seems very limited, although it features some exotic fare like Fillet of Reindeer if you are the adventurous sort. There is an ironing room on the 2nd floor, but as my room had it's own iron I'm not sure why that's there.Breakfast was a plentiful buffet, but very much meat-centric so if you're vegetarian you will struggle. Quality of the food was excellent, however.There is free wifi throughout the hotel and it is reasonably fast. Overall - this is a highly recommended hotel. However, it can be expensive especially if there is a big event taking place in town.

Very friendly hotel....great bar and bar food, some rooms are a little small, but cosy and clean nonetheless. great bar with a good selection of beers and food, loved the reindeer burger with lingon berries! (...........and the guinness!)

Great tradition, yet modern in the city centre
We stayed New Years Eve and were received by friendly staff. Check-in was rapid as was the check-out the next morning. The room was budget price and also budget size. Rather narrow bed for two but we had been warned when booking so no hard feelings there. The small room was quiet and clean, recently refurbished.Very rich breakfast buffet included in the room price the next morning. Everything you could ask for and then some. Do-it-yourself Belgian waffles as well.The hotel is right in the center of the city with nice walks along the riverbanks or shopping if you prefer.

A nice stay
The Elite Stadshotellet Karlstad is a nice and historical hotel located in the center of Karlstad. The "deluxe" room was spacious and comfortable, yet quite affordable at about 900 SEK a night.The English restaurant/pub next door had a great atmosphere and the food there was great.We saw some indications of wear and tear that really should be fixed, but overall this was a very nice stay at a great hotel, which we probably will visit again.

Very nice, down by the river
We stayed only one night on our way up north in Dalarna, it cost only 1000 kr. (aprox. 95 euros) for two persons in a very nice room incl. abig, very good breakfast with everything you could wish for.The hotel is located down by the River Klar¿¿lven in the middle of the city, close to shopsand restaurants, the Hotel has also a very nice Pub "The Bishops Arms" with lot¿¿s ofbeers and good food.We put our badge "Revied on Tripadvisor" on the roomwindow, because we liked it so much!
