Incredible!
We stayed in the Picasso suite, and could not believe our luck. The suite occupies the whole canal-frontage of the hotel, on the second floor, and is huge, with mammoth sofas! Bulgari bathroom treats, and an elegant breakfast room overlooking a terrace at the back of the hotel. Steep stairs, but our bags were always carried up or down. Very well situated on the Prinsengracht just a few minutes walk from the fabulous Rijks Museum. Hotel suggested a very cool intimate restaurant and made booking for us too. There was some street noise fairly late at night, but with this location (and over the Queen's abdication/King's coronation too), it was inevitable. We did not have to pay the full hotel rate as our original choice of hotel had overbooked ... and would not have stretched to the full rate. Which is not to say that it is not worth it, but that it is outside our budget.

'Charming hotel'
A delightful, comfortable small hotel with attractive and elegant furnishings. Recommendations and suggestions given by Receptionists were very helpful and made our visit even more enjoyable. Excellent position and easy to get around.

Gracious Elegance
My partner and I love this hotel . It is stylish, elegant, refined and just lovely. As are the staff.Other reviewers have described this as feeling like a gracious private home - and that is a perfect description. We stayed in the Mahler Suite which is one of the smaller rooms and extremely charming. The lovely Nine Streets area is nearby with many small individual shops and galleries.The main shopping areas are a short amble away . We recommend Odettes on Prisengracht for lunch - a small busy cafe and you need to book. I cannot add any more than others have written here as they have said everything we feel about this hotel. After a day of sightseeing to come back to this most lovely hotel ,sit in either of the two public rooms , one of them with an enormous bookcase groaning under beautiful books, and to have a glass of wine is just simply wonderful. This is where we will always come back to.

Cosseted in Comfort
My husband and I spent three delightful days at this truly lovely hotel. As others have noted, it feels more like a gracious private home than a hotel, with beautiful and personalized decor and art and all the creature comforts one would expect. Each room is different but beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Tolkien room, which faced a small back courtyard. The room was very large, with a comfy couch and sitting area and king-sized bed with quality linens. Lots of windows, so even though it's not on the canal, it was flooded with light and you could actually open the windows! Although it is an old house, we didn't find noise to be an issue and slept extremely well in the very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a large soaking tub and separate shower, and fresh towels were delivered twice daily. Breakfast was included and served either in the room or in a pretty, basement dining rooom; fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, eggs any style, bread basket and great coffee. There are two nice public spaces, with fireplaces (one gas, one real as I recall) and it was relaxing to have a glass of wine or coffee at the end of a day of sightseeing. The staff was unfailingly pleasant and helpful, offering dining and touring suggestions and any other help required. We arrived very early in the morning and the manager (a warm and friendly young man named Weba, which I am sure I am misspelling) took care of our luggage, settled us with coffee and breakfast and drew maps for us so we could get out into the city until the room was ready in the afternoon. It is a more expensive option, but well worth it in our opinion. On our last visit to the city, we stayed at the Pulitzer, which has nice public spaces but rooms that could use updating. This was a far better experience. While we liked the Pulitzer location, this proved to be even more well located. It was an easy walk to all the museums, the nine streets and the Jordaan area -- all among the nicest spots in Amsterdam. And there's a tram stop virtually steps away. It will be our go-to choice for any future visits to the city.

Very cute hotel
I liked the hotel as soon as I got into it, but when I saw the room, I was thrilled.My room is called Von Goethe and just a beautiful, spacious bathroom.I was only three days and not enough. The bed is large and very comfortable.Receptionists very loving and kind.It's a little pricey, but worth it.
