Disappointing - Slipping in Quality
I still give this place an average rating after staying here numerous times, but the quality is definitely not what it was as recently as a year ago. The hallways are not being kept clean, though not filthy. I had to clean the coffee pot, which had coffee grounds in it. The bathroom floor still had hair on it from previous travelers. Most frustrating of all was a TV that only got two of the four major networks, as well as other channels that were not viewable. We experienced this very same problem during our last stay in February, 2013. We got the same lame excuses as the last time as well. I still give it an average rating because the location is excellent for shopping and dining, and despite our complaints, the room was tolerably clean and you can't beat the price in tn this area. However, if we have this experience on our next visit, we will definitely find another place to stay while in Albany.

A good price, great location, smokey stinky corridors
My family stayed here for two nights for a funeral in the Albany area. We booked this location for a good price.The room we got was on the second floor. The doorlatch was installed wrong, so that when you use the key-card to enter, you had to pull the latch upward, rather than the typical downward way.Beware if you use Hotwire for making reservations here, they mistakingly reserved a single bed room when we needed two double beds, fortunately, the desk clerk noticed this and gave us the right room.The room itself was okay, but the WiFi signal was very weak.During check-out time, the hallway had some piles of pizza boxes and garbage outside some of the room doors, and the stairway had a large pile of take-out trash which was getting to be a bit stinky.The complimentary breakfast included make-your-own waffles, Cheerios and Rasin Bran as well as the usual basic breakfast fare. The cups for the Orange and Apple juices were sample size small (4 or 6 oz.). The Buca di Beppo restaurant in front of this motel was good, and a great choice for family get-togethers. Across the street (Wolf Road) is a shopping mall with a movie theater and a Cheesecake Factory restaurant.Because of the low price (internet deal), I'd recommend this Travelodge, but if you get a rate over $50 a night, I'd probably consider someplace else.

Good value but...
It was a 'late' last minute find, and the walk in rate was good (CAA rate $62/night) for one night, one room two queen beds. Reception was ok, clean with free wifi throughout. We made our way to our room - which fortunately was a "NO smoking" room but the stench in the hallway and the room especially was horrendous. It smelled of stale smoke. We immediately called to try and get another room. Sold out she said. Really !? Nothing else said. I have allergies, and my eyes were burning all night. Woke up with a sore throat. Bed was comfortable. Linens clean. Microwave in room, but no fridge!? Free wifi. can';t say for sure what was on the wall near bathroom garbage, really tried NOT to look too closely.... Checkout couldn't come fast enough (smell). But the other half of the motel didn't smell as bad. Too bad they didn't move us. Free breakfast: up to 9am and we were on the cusp of it ending, and a quick call to the morning receptionist said she'd hold it for us. Very nice of her. Cereal, English muffins, coffee, juice, fruits (waffle maker was already cleaned up unfortunately)Room attendant was extremely cheerful and inquired if he could clean room right away, but we were checking out right after breakfast. I forgot my iphone charger plugged into the wall and was exceptionally surprised and happy to be able to retrieve it on our way back home, a couple of days later. So kuddo's to the staff on that!
