Fantastic hotel
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in January 2013 and had the best time!The main aspect that stood out as being outstanding was the breakfast at the hotel. It was a buffet style. There was lots of choice both hot and cold such as smoked salmon and meats and even champagne! Our room was spacious, always cleaned properly and had a view over the snowy rooftops of Vienna. The staff were very helpful and the location was good walking distance to all the hotspots.Overall adored Vienna, a very romantic city (even at -4C!!) very good value for money and the breakfast was amazing!!We are both desperate to go back and would 100% stay at the Johann Strauss again!

Would stay again
4 nights in February 2013. A friendly and welcoming staff. Very clean and nice. Excellent location for exploring Vienna. Very rich breakfast. No morning noise from outside. The only inconvenience - the twin beds in the room sliding apart too easily, would recommend some attachment.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights on February 2013, on a professional journey.Positive aspects: - very close to underground, 15 min walk from center- very good, abundant and varied breakfast- extremely kind personnelLess positive: - room was very dirty, but it got cleaned when I asked it- horrible smell of smoke everywhere (included in the bedroom if you switch on the heating)- wifi almost not usable (very faint connection, slow)- price completely in-line with other hotels in the area....which looked much better (had colleagues staying there...my fault not to check in advance!)

Quaint (in a charming way) hotel, great location, friendly staff. And free wi-fi in rooms!
This turned out to be a nice find (I stayed at the hotel for one night in early Dec 2012 when I visited Vienna for the first time). My objective was to stay somewhere close to the offices I had meetings at, and this hotel served that purpose well -- I was able to walk down to my meeting venue in the morning.And the walk was helpful, after the sumptuous breakfast I had! The breakfast spread at the hotel is something worth waking up a bit early for (so that you are not in a rush). Close to the hotel, there is an underground/metro train station. Am saying, like a few steps away! I did not use it, but the very friendly person at the front desk (Monica, I recall) told me that Vienna has a pretty good public transport network. She was also very helpful when I expressed the desire to visit an Indian restaurant for dinner, and gave me precise directions to a fairly decent place (10 mins walk, at most). In general, the staff of Hotel Johann Strauss are an extremely friendly bunch.The other thing I liked about this hotel was the fact that they had free wi-fi in the entire hotel area, including the room.Talking of rooms, I dont know if this is true of all their rooms, but mine was H U G E . Probably among the largest hotel rooms I have stayed in, within Europe. The decor (carpet, overall feel) does look a bit dated, but it actually adds to the overall charm of this quaint hotel. At their price, this is good value for money.I hope to make another, much longer, trip to Austria some day, and in Vienna I will probably stay at the Johann Strauss.
