Okay physical facilities, bad neighborhood, appallingly bad service
Checked in during a Friday evening. While at the desk, had another customer interject and demand service from the desk clerk. Desk clerk took care of the other customer for five minutes then returned to finish my check-in. Bad omen for the rest of the stay.Arriving at my room, discovered it had no shampoo, soap or conditioner. Called down to desk to ask for some to be sent up. Clerk very snippy and asked why I wanted "extra". I told clerk there was no "extra" to be had, as a matter of fact there was nothing. Took an hour for someone to finally show up with those items, and then had to endure a bad attitude from the employee. Told me the tip I had given was not satisfactory, but pocketed it and left grumbling. What?The physical facilities are okay, but the surrounding neighborhood is abhorrent. Like putting a Four Seasons in the middle of downtown Detroit.Will never stay there again and have written a letter to Renaissance management at the corporate level letting the know the hotel is a bad example.

Great - Newark Airport Restuarant
Had a fantastic dining experience at the Renaissance Newark Airport hotel restaurant. The pork chop was out of this world and what a diverse and friendly staff. Got a chance to met the Chef - Prince Akuaky (ask him to make his special sauce) - waiter Hector Foreno and the Food and beverage supervisor Xyrill Ferriot. Great food, convenient location and outstanding staff - what more can anyone ask for

Very nice!!
I was surprised that this was a nice hotel near the airport. Modern furniture and great food made great impressions to this experience. Very close to the airport! Staff was beyond friendly and helpful! Definitely will stay again.

Good airport hotel - difficult location
This is an average Renaissance hotel with the usual amenities and modern rooms. The club lounge provides a good breakfast combined with nice views of the Manhattan skyline. There are no restaurants or shops in walking instance and the neighborhood is not in the most inviting area. I saw numerous reviews complaining about how tough to find this hotel is by car even with GPS. I prepared myself by looking on Gppgle Earth and the map in addition to GPS and still missed it. The required tour de pothole to get back to the hotel requires extensive driving through within the surrounding neighborhood and provides scenic views of homeless people, abandoned industrial warehouses and so on.Parking is good, especially when you book it through airportparkingreservations.com getting a low daily rate. The shuttle is easy to catch from hotel, but a true pain coming back from the airport. You have to take the train to P4 and fight with 500 other guys trying to get in after waiting half an hour. I would probably go for another hotel or park at P4 to avoid the hassle next time. Not the hotels fault that the shuttles have to leave from that location though, but another great example of NJ transportation planning skills.

Good standard for $
I had a late arrival at EWR and found this room at a 3rd of the price for the same room/standard in manhattan. My room is clean and spacious, the beds are very comfortable and the lobby offers a nice lounge are. Perfect for my one night stay before I take the morning train to manhattan. The hotel bus shuttle works out very smoothly and runs every 20 minutes (light blue) from P4 EWR. Free of charge. It's possible to buy breakfast at the hotel. Note: bring your own hair dryer (my room didn't have one).
