Great Staff - Great Location
We needed a place to stay that was near the Long Island Expressway as well as having access to Manhattan. This hotel fit both criteria! Although the surrounding area was more industrial than I would have liked (but this wasn't a romantic getaway so it didn't matter), the hotel was clean and the staff was extremely accommodating, offering us a take along bag of fruit for our day. We had extra pillows delivered to our room too. The room itself was on the small side, but the luxurious bathroom made up for that and the king mattress was supportive and comfortable. The breakfast was the typical "Express" breakfast and there is a Dunkin Donuts a block away. We would stay here again for sure for the cleanliness, staff and location.

Stay in an OK hotel in a great NYC neighborhood.
I stayed in this hotel last November and December and enjoyed the setting. I needed to be able to get around Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx and so this place was ideal, being located at the intersection of the BQE (Brooklyn, Queens, Expressway) and the Long Island Expressway. The rooms on the side away from the Long Island Expressway are the ones to ask for in terms of quiet. It has the usual corporate breakfast, the staff were quite nice in a reserved New York sort of way. If you need to access the subway you need to catch a bus. The best one is up the hill in the Maspeth business district. The neighborhood is a joy. It is Polish, Irish, and Jewish. Near by are Polish pastry shops selling wonderful poppy seed pastries that we thought were unavailable outside of Poland. The neighborhood is very quiet and felt very safe as I often walked home from the bus late at night and saw solitary women walking dogs at that time as well. Compared to other hotels in NYC it is great value.

great vhotel and staff sometimes higher rate than expecpted!
i love the safety and parking: staff are all my friends, glad to see each other every time i'm there: sometimes rates are higher than expected because of cleanlyness and safety i supposse.breakfast is always great ;coffee always good,(feel like family staying here.)!!!!' sometimes rates are to high breakfast always great !

Poor Customer Service
We recently stayed a week at the Holiday Inn Maspeth N.Y.. However, the area next to and behind the hotel becomes a loud and unpleasant car show and race track each Friday and Saturday night from 11:00 pm to 3:30 AM. After going to bed,,much to our surprise, the parking lot next door to the hotel and the street adjacent to the rear of the hotel are turned into a car show each Friday and Saturday nights if the weather is clear. Several hundred young men gather there with their modified cars with very loud exhausts to, carouse, yell and sing very loudly and race their cars with heavily modified engines down the street. When we complained on both nights we were told that this is a regular event and the police are very slow to respond and break it up. In fact it wasn't until 2:30 AM or 3:30 AM that this activity was stopped. On Friday, we asked to be moved to another room but were told it was just a as noisy, except all the activity occurs in the rear so that explanation doesn't make sense. Even more frustrating was the attitude of the hotel management. I asked to speak with the manager and instead was contacted by a low level minion who informed me that the police won¿¿¿t do anything and therefore the hotel can¿¿¿t do anything. When I asked if they had contacted the fast food shop on the property or the parking lot owner, I was told that they didn't care. When I asked if they sought legal action, the activity being a public nuisance, I was told no, they didn't do anything but take pictures occasionally. It is clear that the hotel management does not care about the weekend guests whom they believe aren¿¿¿t going to come back anyway, so why waste time trying to stop it. However, I can safely predict that with the size of the crowd and the activity occurring, someone is going to get hurt. Hopefully it won¿¿¿t be a guest. It is very important that this information be available to any potential guest as the management is very unresponsive. On a previous occasion, when I had a problem and tried to speak with the manager, I was told by the housekeeping manager that the problem was my fault.

Second time at this hotel and my stay was very pleasant!
Staff and manager are very friendly, price is affordable. Only down side is, place is in the middle of no where. You have to walk to a bus stop to transfer on to a subway. Average cab fare from LGA to the hotel is $20. Other than that place is very clean and quite. Breakfast is a plus, there is a mc Donald's and a Chinese place right next to it. There's also a currency exchange where you can get your metro pass. Will definitely be back when I visit NY again.
