Old Hotel, but nice
We couldn't get a reservation at the hotels we usually stay at (due to a national holiday), so we opted to try the Lutetia, because of its location on the Left Bank. We've seen the hotel before, and were a little worried about its age, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a very large room on the top floor with a large view to the south. The room was a little old-fashioned but the bathroom was very modern, with a separate tub and shower. Service was great, and the buffet breakfast was really extensive and of very high quality. There were a lot of Americans here, but quite a few people of other nationalities, including French.We were told that the hotel is going to shut down soon for a complete renovation which will take about three years.

I think this is really a special hotel. I've been there more than 3 times now and i've never been disappointed. It's a big and classical style french hotel, nice bar with a little jazz beside the reception. Staff it's trained and respectful, kind of thing you can expect in a hotel this prestigious. Rooms are usually bigger than in other hotels, some really big, and cleaning is neat.And the location it's amazing. In the 6¿¿me (beatiful neighborhood), very close to Saint Germain des Pr¿¿s, with a LOT of good restaurants around. Walking distance to other attractions such as Saint Sulpice, Jardin de Luxembourg, Muse¿¿ Rodin, Invalides. It's definitely not a cheap hotel; wouldn't recommend it for young people, students or if you are into a tighter budget. On the other hand, families and mature couples can profit of their stay here. Quality hotel.

Good Hotel
Great location. BIG room (104). We could hear the Metro passing but it was a quiet woosh and it did not really bother us. It is an ancient AC system but we had it on and it did cool the room. Of course it was on 60 outside. But I could tell it was working.Great location, with Metro right there. Too expensive to eat in the hotel but MANY local cafe's to frequent.Great bedding and linens. We slept very well. Paris is expensive but I think this was a good value especially for the size of the room. We were there a week and would go back.

money and profits over people and compassion
We were trying to cancel our reservation at this hotel due to the fact that my boyfriend's father was gravely ill, dying in the hospital, and we had to cancel our trip to France altogether.I have never had to deal with a less compassionate, more heartless staff than in this hotel. Nobody even bothered talking to us on the phone - we were just referred to email - and it took three emails to even get a response and we were dealt with by email only.To be fair, we did have a fare that specified that it was "non-refundable", but there was no effort to even understand the circumstance or offer any kind of consideration or assistance.All of the other hotels and car rentals we had to request cancellations from showed some form of compassion, some even waved their cancellation fees and provided full refunds understanding the circumstance.We were so excited about staying at this hotel and were so extremely disappointed about how this hotel handled the situation and the fact that they value policies over people and customer care.This lesson has cost us ¿¿¿1263, a mistake we won't be making again.

Gracious, elegance at great price
Being a terrific rate when all surrounding hotels were way more expensive, I was expecting more of a corporate, not special feel. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was gorgeous! Huge rooms and the largest bathroom, even with Bide! And so gracefully decorated. Downstairs had a bar with terrific entertainment into the wee hours, where we drank way too much good French wine. Right near great Left Bank restaurants, and the service was warm and gracious too!
