Worst hotel I have been to in 35 years of travel
As a platinum level traveler with Starwood, I am very loyal to their hotels. I assumed this hotel would be like all other Westin Hotels .... You know what they say about assume. The central HVAC system was indeed controlled centrally in spite of the thermostat in the room. Three other individuals who were traveling with me had the same problem, room too hot, no way to turn the AC on. Two of the four lamps in the rooms either had burnt out light bulbs or broken lamp parts. The bathroom light (1 of 2) was like a strobe light. I hit my knees on an extension under the desk at least three times .... what were they thinking. Ordered dinner around 10:00 pm. Mediocre at best. They did not charge for the dinner due to the room issues ..... and this was an upgraded room at $275.00 per night. If you are looking for a hotel in this area, I suggest you look elsewhere. When I brought these issues to the hotels attention, they informed me the hotel was scheduled for a remodel later this year --- This is indeed a "tired" hotel.

Not sure....
This hotel is situated not far from the White House (about 15 minutes walk). The subway is a couple of blocks away. The hotel is ok. As most reviews have stated the atrium is the issue. Because of this almost no room has direct daylight or fresh air. We missed that a lot during our stay and were glad to leave after 3 nights.Having said that, the room was fine. Big room, big bathroom, big bed which slept great. Housekeeping was nog quite up to scratch. When we arrived the sink wasn't cleaned properly. After having told reception twice on consecutive days, nothing was done. The rest of the room and bathroom were cleaned ok.They did provide us with a breakfast voucher because of the uncleanliness of the sink. That was a nice gesture, but we would have preferred the sink be cleaned.The breakfast at the hotel was very nice. Quite a lot of choice in both hot and cold food. If we would have had to pay for it, we wouldn't have gone there. Around the corner there's an 'Au bon pain'. They do a good breakfast for not a lot of money. Good alternative.

Love Westin, but this one needs some tlc
I am usually a fan of the Westin hotel brand. It usually mans comfort and easy. This Westin was fine, but maybe a bit tired. After being there a few days, I notices some wear issues, like holes in the carpet of the restaurant, leaks from the skylight, etc. My room was neat and serviceable, but not quite what I expect from a Westin.

The rooms were pristine, roomy, updated, and comfortable. Parking was exorbitant. Would stay here again, and ride the metro in.

Westin should be ashamed of itself! $300+ a night and you give me motel-like accomodations?
I cannot believe Westin even owns this place? They charged me $300+ for this? If the hotel chain cannot afford to clean it properly and renovate it, how about selling it to a hotel chain that can rather than tarnish your name so badly? This is one of those hotels that was built in the 80s with all the rooms looking into an Atrium. Problem is the rooms are badly in decay and need of a renovation. My room had scuffs marks on the walls and furniture, the fabric on the furniture was ripping and torn and old. The elevators, which have not been renovated stopped on each floor before I got to the 10th floor of 12! The phone didn't work in the room, most of the sockets weren't working and almost caused my sound machine to not work due to sparks coming from one. Then I moved a chair to get to one of the sockets and I see something absolutely disgusting roll out from under the chair?!?!? I don't know if it was animal, human, food, or what?!?! If I wasn't staying there just one night I would have packed up and left it was so gross. And they want $300 a night for this when the Lowes Madison is right around the corner? I had NO Idea the Madison was right around the corner because I am GPS illiterate, if I had known I would have stayed there, since that hotel is a much better expeirence for the money!!! Even the Homewood Suites right down the block! Then the next morning I go to the tiny Starbucks Kiosk to get a much needed coffee after a bad night's sleep and she puts whip on my iced coffee and a FLAT top on the cup? I mean even the starbucks coffee kiosk cannot make a coffee correctly? Oh and I forgot to mention the night before there was a cocktail hour for the group I was with and the food that was served at the Westin was something you buy at Costco heat up in your oven and serve your friends...really truly dissapointing....also the front desk was crowded, understaffed, too small, long lines, long wait...hey Westin, time to sit up and take notice!
