Chimney House Sandbach... more like 'Never Going Back'
Yes, I got a Groupon deal for a one night stay for two, with breakfast at this hotel in Cheshire. I rang to make a reservation and requested a twin room on the ground floor. This was because my mother was accompanying me. She has just recently had a knee replacement operation. We arrived at the Chimney House. There was confusion at the reception desk. A wedding party was present. I was given the keycard to room 19. Great, on the ground floor, right beside reception... however, when I had originally booked I was told the 'twin, ground floor room' was a bit of a walk. Hmmm... room 19 wasn't. Opened the door to the room and it was a 'double'. I returned to reception. I explained the situation. 'We don't have any twin rooms left' was the response. But, a twin room had been confirmed via telephone? More about the sleeping arrangements later. The bin in the 'poor state of decor' had not been emptied from the previous guests. The bath at this point had hair from other humans in it. The window frame was flakey and dirty. The room was small for a double, dark and dank. About an hour into this, we heard the sound of someone trying to get into the room. I opened the door quickly to find a couple standing there. They had been given this room also. The alarm bells were ringing... if we had not been in the room at that time, if this couple had been opportunists... then my Captain America sweater would have gone for sure!!!! The phone rang. I heard a man say, 'Hello?' I replied, 'Hello?' and he replied, 'Hello?'... this went on for a few repeats and resisting the temptation to go all Lionel Ritchie, I hung up. This guy from reception knocked on the door. I explained the situation to him. I asked for another quilt for the room. I would prolly have to sleep on the floor of this 4* accommodation. My mother and I, went out for dinner. The Eggleston Inn in Congleton (highly recommended for the HUGE cod!!!). When we returned, I still didn't have the quilt. I returned to the desk. I explained the reason for the quilt. he then asked me if I wanted the other room. 'What other room?''Room 25', he said. 'Is it a twin room?' I asked. 'No' he said. I explained the booking again. He said he would sort it. He came to the room about 5 mins later and said, 'Will I just take this dirty quilt now?' I looked at him puzzled. 'I need another quilt because I will have to sleep on the floor!' I explained AGAIN about the booking and my mother's knee op. The penny dropped. the guy came back with a quilt, a pillow. A little later a Z bed and a sheet. The next morning - after a sleepless night, I showered with a daddy long-leg in the bath. The breakfast was a debacle and can only be compared with a stay in Fawlty Towers. A little foreign guy barking about, completely self-serve but we only found that out from a kindly guest. The food bar was very small and we had to wait ages for more eggs... 3 were brought in a trough!!! then there was only one slice of bacon in a trough... I had to cut my losses and take what was left. On checking out the person behind the desk only asked for the room number. God forbid she ask if we had had a nice stay, of if there had been any problems. No customer surveys in sight to complete either. The only saving grace for this hotel was the guy who sought out a Z bed. The rest... if this is 4* in Cheshire, then I would recommend camping.

Shameful Management
I stayed here for 1 night and I must say this is the most disorganised experienced. The hotel was overbooked and hence we had problems getting a room despite have confirmation in plenty of time. There was a large wedding going on during our stay and there seemed to be a few guests unable to stay in rooms as they were over booked. We did not eat in the hotel due to the issues we had checking in but travelled to a pub close by which was fantastic and they really looked after us.Check out was disorganised with long waits at reception. We waited until it quietened down to try to check out, however the receptionists were dealing with a problem of another person who ran another hotel in the area and had helped the Chimney Hotel with rooms. The manager of the Chimney House hotel was refusing to pay the other hotel for rooms that were set aside. I feel this is disgraceful behaviour. The manager could not even be bothered to come and sort this out himself.A really poor hotel and should be avoided at all costs.

Our wedding day - 4th May 2013
What can I say about this absolutely marvellous hotel - we had a truly perfect wedding day and it's all thanks to the professional, warm and friendly team at the Chimney House hotel. We want to extend our very special thanks to the lovely Megan Williams who was our wedding co-ordinator. Megan made everything so easy - whatever I wanted, she made it happen - nothing was ever a problem and any little issue that did crop up (and there weren't many) was sorted within literally 10 minutes. I was made to feel like the most special bride in the world and the fact that the Toastmaster (the fantastic Phil Eardley) our brilliant DJ Paul, the chair covers and stationery, courtesy of Lets Celebrate and the superb bar flair with free cocktails from the wonderful Luke were all part of the Chimney House package just helped everything happen so smoothly. You were all outstanding and Simon and I had a day to remember. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's the happiest day in anyone's life and the most expensive and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Chimney House Hotel to anyone looking to get married. The food was exceptional and lots of our guests commented on how good the food was and what a brilliant atmosphere there was at our wedding. Under the guidance of our wonderful Megan all the staff made sure the room looked beautiful and everybody was well looked after. My sister thought the bar staff in paticular were amazing and thanks them for their service. I can't say enough about how good this hotel is and my mum and dad decided to stay a couple more nights and make a mini trip of it and they confirmed that it was just as good after the wedding so whether you want to get married there or just stay there overnight you definitely can't go wrong :-) Thank you so very much from Mr and Mrs Jenkins xx

overnight stay
We had a groupon voucher as a present from a friend. The outside of the hotel could o with some attention, a lot of the window frames need replacing, but inside the decor is ok.Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, a bit busy at the bar as there was a wedding on, and although the wedding was in a different building whilst everyone was checking in the bar was busy.Breakfast was the usual "english breakfast" food and nice

fantastic!
recently stayed here on a groupon voucher, the hotel is very close to the M6 but you cant hear any noise, the hotel has its own small grounds with trees etc which gives it a lovely countryside feel. the breakfast in the morning was lovely, everything you need to start your day. the room was comfortable and large, so was the en-suite bathroom. would definitely stay again :)
