Further stay at Moorlands
Earlier this month I stayed at Moorlands with my wife (and dog) in the ground floor Dean apartment. In september 2011 I stayed in the upstairs Bodley Suite and was very impressed and I was equally satisfied with the Dean apartment. Being situated on the ground floor with the entrance into the kitchen (with a tiled floor) was very handy with the dog, particularly as it rained almost constantly during the time we stayed! The apartment was warm and comforatble with a large sitting room that also had a dining table. On one of the nights we eat at the Fox and Goose in Parracombe and had a lovely meal in this welcoming pub. As before the owners were friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Moorlands.

Welcoming, Friendly and excellent breakfasts
Moorlands is well signed and is located at the end of its own private driveMy niece got married at the end of June and held her wedding reception about a mile from Moorlands. We took over the whole guest house for two nights. The rooms were clean and well maintained, they'd been recently redecorated. The beds were comfortable. The owners were really friendly and helpful. We stayed on the Friday and Saturday nights eating breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday mornings. On the friday evening I spoke to the owners to get directions to the somewhat lack lustre Hunters Inn - they were extremely helpful and friendlyBreakfast was delicious the full English cooked to order with good quality ingredients. Cereals and fruit juices were laid out buffet style wit toast and tea and coffee prepared to order. The only negative is that the car park is slightly elevated above the guest house there is a path down to the entrance which is poorly lit and, in the wet, very slippy - there are also no lights down the main drive to Moorlands - if I had been elderly/disabled I would have had some issues with accessibility...perhaps the owners should think about improving disabled accessBUT for me I thoroughly enjoyed my stay - If I'm ever in the area again I would certainly stay again.

Great place in lovely setting
We went down the drive and were immeduiately enchanted by the setting and grounds. The welcome was friendly and backed up the and booking made whish was dealt with politely and efficiently. The accommodation was spotless, if a little old fashioned, but this added to the charm. The food was good quality and served in a pleasant dining room with ajoining comfortable lounge. There are great walks nearby and the hotel has direct access to the narrow gauge Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, which is a real joy to visit. The service at Mooralnds could not be faulted and we left vowing to return again - can say no more!

Lovely stay on Exmoor at Moorlands
I stayed at Moorlands last weekend in the Bodley Suite. I was thoroughly satisfied with the accommodation which was very clean, comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Moorlands is well placed for walking and other attractions. The accommodation was very reasonably priced and represents excellent value for money. As we were self-catering we did not have any meals but the option was there. As previous reviewers have said, the owners were friendly and helpful and I felt very welcome. I certainly intend to stay at Moorlands again.

Fabulous, friendly location in the middle of the park
Beautiful old country home turned hotel in the middle of Exmoor. Beautiful views over farmland toward coast, which is reachable via paths from hotel. Friendly owners, lovely straightforward breakfast. Lots of privacy. Nice toiletries and tea/coffee in room. Games and books for rainy days. Note that breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m.
