    Lovely comfortable hotel.
Stayed here at the weekend. Girls at reception were very helpful with their advice on shopping and things to see. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. Rooms were spacious and ours had a superkingsize bed. Clean hotel. Friendly staff who did their best to help.

    Functional but no fun
This is a functional I would suggest 3 star hotel, however lacks personality, professionalism, and style to make it any better than basic. However, even a basic hotel that is well-managed and welcoming can be a rewarding experience with good staff and a good attitude - which appeared to be lacking here - specifically at reception, which after all is the smiling face of he hotel -albeit not armagh city hotel!Armagh is a beautiful little town with many interesting street and attractive landmarks. The city hotel however has made little effort to contribute positively to the city skyline and has closer links to the adjacent high security police station than armaghs streets and spires. The appear acne of the hotel is further Let down by the design and amount of car parking that surrounds the hotel in every direction. All this could however be overlooked with Irish charm and personality, however we were greeted with some of the grumpiest reception staff I have seen anywhere. They had an ability to appear to be doing 4 things at once but not actually doing anything at all. Check- in was ridiculously slow, everyone I talked to had the same impression. When I asked for 2 cards to charge to the room it appeared as the most outrageous of suggestions that would have involved another 10 minute ordeal to which we eventually settled for 1. I had booked an executive room and expected a View of the cathedral, however was informed this wasn't the case however we would have a balcony overlooking the golf course which we accepted. What a disappointment - yes we had a balcony, or smoking terrace ( we dont smoke) which hasn't been properly cleaned since the last smoking guests. Our view was of the car park and beyond that to the barbed wire of the police station - if we looked far enough in the other direction we could see a bit of green which was I must assume the golf course. We kept the curtains closed so that we didn't have to look at the police station all day. Breakfast finished at 10 am on a Sunday which is very early, and need it was fully cleared away by 10.30. Staff here were good, however it took us 5 mins to find as reception sent us in a wild goose chase around the hotel looking for it due to poor directions. And finally check out was something of a relief, no joy or asks about our stay - just give us your money and go!All in all an ok hotel, shame about the reception - really lets it down. This is not a heap hotel, and therefore one expects a much better standard of service.

    Not very good.
My wife and I stayed on a 2 night B&B break, including 1 evening meal in the dining room.On arrival, the receptionist wasn't very friendly but efficient enough. We had our inclusive meal on our first night which was very good. So much so, that the next day we went to the not so pleasant receptionist to reserve a table for our 2nd evening. She told us we could not because the dining room was fully booked by non residents who were celebrating a Confirmation Day with families. When I explained that we were residents and felt that there should be tables for staying guests, I was dismissed outright. I was told we could get bar food in the lounge. I have never heard the likes of this before. Anyone we have told about this couldn't believe it. All in all, we found staff were not well trained. Service was poor and unprofessional. One of the bar servers was quite rude. This hotel seems to be happy enough to get 'bums on seats' from the locals but not interested in staying guests. The phrase "rough and ready" comes to mind.

Pleasant hotel in a great location
This modern hotel is very clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly. The breakfast is great. I had a bar meal on both nights of my stay and although the bar was very busy the service was quite good. Armagh is a beautiful city and this hotel is convenient to the town centre. This is a popular and busy hotel but I wasn't disturbed by any noise at night.

    Reception staff bring down hotel
Stayed here for 3 days on a business conference and I was treated excpetionally by the bar staff who where friendly and helpful one in particular a man named Michael if i recall correctly. Food was of good quality and rooms satisfactory however, the reception staff did not greet me upon arrival but made me feel like it was a chore to have to check me in, asking for their help in information on the local area I was told they were busy and to go away. Really was the rudest treatment Ive ever had in a hotel which really is a pity because It has many good qualities but for this reason I will not be back!
