Just Like home quaint small hotel
Loved this small quaint hotel! The room we had was One of their petite rooms. We weren't bothered by the size of the room didnt spend much time there. Very comfortable and clean.Free coffee in the library on main floor very cozy room. There is also a small restaurant and noted bar where we eat twice after the theatre.Location was outstanding.Air conditioner a bit noisy

Elegant
The Mansfield is like being in a Victorian novel. We asked about its history and it was a men's club in the late 1800s. The rooms,with hardwood floors and beautiful windows had a comfortable bed and Aveda products. Rooms are important but I think what makes a hotel something to come back to is the staff, and this staff makes a fine hotel even finer. My husband loved the lemon water, I loved the great coffee and cookies. The location is super, walking 5th avenue and the area was lovely.

A Step Back in Time
Built in 1904, The Mansfield retains it's beautiful lines, updated perfectly for today's traveler. Hardwood floors, marble baths and staircases, windows that open, comfy nooks in the Public areas providing free Wi-Fi and a wonderful Italian coffee maker with little treats through the day.The Staff from the Porters to Reception always eager to assist. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite well before check-in time, enjoying a beautiful sitting room with fireplace, exquisite bedding, Aveda toiletries and robes. All this in a charming part of 44th St. We will return again and again.

Mixed opinion
I stayed here for the first time on a recent business trip to New York. On the good side, the location is excellent my room was clean and the staff was friendly. I didn't use the bar but it looked nice. On the bad side, my room was very small and dark, there was no place to sit to watch television or read comfortably except the bed, I could not get the air condition working well enough to cool the room down to get a good night's sleep, and I didn't get my 7:00 wakeup call, which was inconvenient.Overall this is an old, worn tourist-class hotel that is well-situated and relatively inexpensive given room prices at other mid-town hotels. If you're not going to be in your room much anyway and are not fussy about up-to-date d¿¿cor or furnishings it will serve you perfectly well.

Good midtown option close to Times Square
Recently stayed here for work and play. Had a junior suite which was huge by New York standards. Rooms a bit tired looking but clean and nicely furnished, staff excellent and breakfasts were lovely. There is a lot of noise at the front of the hotel so a room further back is a must if you are a light sleeper. Location is great for tourists - near Rockefeller, Times Square, empire sate, Bryant park, grand central and a short walk to the park. Not the most luxurious of New York hotels but well worth the price.
