BETTER THAN EXPECTED-A JEWEL
Thanks to some positive reviews on Tripadvisor I chose this hotel on Easy Jet holidays for a short break. It was glorious and relaxing. Out of season (Easter) meant there was no hotel entertainment and the weather a little chilly but sunny. I had one day at the beach which is a 10 min walk down the road or across the road near some cliffs and a few days trips to the local towns with Alvor a gem. The front desk service was terrific and any little problems: unable to get my belongings out of the room safe (which costs extra) was easily fixed as well as the balcony door which couldn't be locked. The apartment was clean, tidy with new towels daily and the breakfast a delight. There is a little shop near the restaurant for food/small goods because it's self catering and all the local people very helpful and friendly. I thought it odd one has to pay for the use of the phone at reception to confirm one's flight/shuttle but as the economy is poor at present I understand. Local busses can be caught to various destinations but take note of the bus numbers as you see them pass by. Also one can pay a Euro and use the hotel shuttle which is handy. The water is fine for boiling and cooking in.The only non positive comment: the beds are very hard which hurt my back and legs. It's the usual two singles push together to make a double with sideways sheets but the beds slide apart. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed my quiet, restful and beautiful break. Suitable for couples, families and singles. Maybe a bit quiet for groups and hen/stag parties.

Good value for money - but a little disappointing
Stayed here for a week with my husband and 7 year old daughter. Our room was clean and tidy and cleaned 6 days out of the week which was great. The room was acceptable in size, but the overall apartment was looking a bit worn and tired. The kitchen area had sufficient facilities to cook, although it would have been better if there was a oven, as it meant we had to fry everything, which is a method of cooking that we don't use much at home. We didn't eat at the hotel, so can't comment on the food, but went to the bar and found it disappointing, as the atmosphere was drab and the staff weren't particularly friendly. We got the impression that they just wanted to close. I do appreciate that we went in April and it is slightly out of season, but we are still guests and potential future guests and therefore felt a little more effort could have been made. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful, although I can't honestly agree with other reviews, when they stated that they put effort into making sure that everyone was happy with their room placement and in some cases were moved if they were unhappy with their room. We were told on booking by our travel advisor, that we were been given an upgrade on our room and that our balcony would be in the sun all day. This probably had nothing to do with the hotel, but when we expressed in a diplomatic way, that our room was not we expected, as in a small studio apartment and a balcony in the shade, an extremely noisy AC system which kept us awake all night and a patio door which didn't lock etc., they weren't interested at all. They did however fix the door lock.We found that the whole hotel was looking worn and tired. Our room overlooked the hotel entrance and our view was an extremely torn entrance canopy. It seemed a shame, as potentially it could be a lovely hotel. Hopefully some changes are being made to restore the hotel to its former glory, ready for the summer season.Overall, it is fairly good value for the money, but the hotel location was not so good and was a little set back. We didn't find any supermarkets that were within walking distance. There are brilliant supermarkets in Portimao, but need a car or would have to get a bus. But the hotel is good as a base to explore the surrounding area, as the beaches along that coastline are absolutely stunning. The coves are great to explore, although you will probably need a car. But the local beach, praia do vau, is beautiful as well as praia da rocha and Alvor. We spent some lovely days on these beaches and there are lovely bars and restaurants along that coastline. Other beaches to visit are Marinha and Benagil. Lagos is well worth a visit and Alvor.

Nice quiet relaxing holiday
We stayed here on a half board basis. The room was spacious and although clean, was not cleaned on the Sunday and after 5pm on the other days. This meant an afternoon nap was out of the question. The kitchen was fully equipped even though we were half board. The reception staff were very helpful and all but one (older guy) greeted you with a smile. The meals in the restaurant were good when we ate there.. However, the choice was limited if on half board. We ate out two nights as it was chicken, fish or seafood pasta (I don't eat chicken or fish.) We did have lunch at the bar a couple of times and it was very nice.I enjoyed staying here as it was very quiet at night and there was just something very relaxing about the area. The hotel is a bit of a walk(!5 to 20mins) to the nearest shops and bars but taxis were only 5 euros. We walked most of the time as it was a nice walk. I would go back again but in high season when it was a bit warmer. (Can't blame hotel for that)

Really Nice Hotel
My partner and I booked this hotel for a week from 1st April this year, we are only just back from it and I must say it was a great hotel, the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The rooms were a little dated but well stocked out, there is a tv with a few English channels, good for when the weather wasn't the best. The weather in general was nice during the day but it could be a bit cold in the evenings. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi, was nice but a bit expensive at ¿¿¿25 per week. Think this should be free if I am honest cos the outdoor pool was freezing! The hotel was very quiet but this was merely due to the time of the year. We went half board, breakfast was a choice of breads, croissants, eggs and bacon. The evening meal was soup and a choice of 3 different main courses followed by desert. The food I thought was an 8 out of 10. The staff in the restaurant really were the most pleasant hotel staff I have ever came across and I've stayed at a lot of hotels. They were extremely polite and attentive. I think the hotel is in a nice location but it is a bit of a walk from from the shops, it's approximately 3km from each little town/village, I would recommend taking the scenic walk along the beach to Praia do rocha or a taxi costs approx ¿¿¿5 each way. The beaches were by far the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Over all I give this week break at this hotel a 7 out of 10, the reason I have taken points off is due to the location and the charge for using their indoor pool. I would however definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely Break
Stayed here for 3 weeks in March and it was lovely.Apartments are cleaned 6 days a week(not Sunday)bed linen and towels changed regular again these were white, nice fresh and clean. The reception staff are all very helpful and nothing's too much bother to them and it's the same in the resturant good food and good service.Grounds are really nice there are 2 outdoor adult pools and 1 for children, the childrens play area looks nice as well.Bus service to Alvor and Portimao is very good and regular.Found Taxi's varied and some charge more at weekends so that's one to watch out for.On the front in Alvor there's a seafront cafe Yacht Club nice food and drink while you look out on lovely seas also lots of nice places round about.Portimao has lots to see also I believe they have markets there on the waterfront.Best supermarket is Contenette in Portimao or Pingo in Alvor.I think for people with walking/breathing problems just stay around in the lovely grounds because no matter where you go it's hilly.Anyway your almost on the Golf course so for some that's a bonus.Going back soon, very soon
