My wife and has planned a trip to the "Autism Show" at the London ExCel on Saturday, but opted to stay out of town at the Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club and drive to London for the day. It was a good decision - we had a lovely evening at the hotel, and despite staying just the one night managed a swim in the pool and some relaxation in the jacuzzi and sauna, before a night time drink in the bar. Our room was clean and comfortable, and looked out over the golf course and racecourse. The stay was finished with a tasty cooked breakfast, and set us up perfectly for our day in London. Recommended.

Visired on a golfbreak Sunday special deal. Have stayed in Marriotts before and was expecting the polite but not really over bothered / too busy that I've experienced before. Couldn't have been more wrong.None of the staff could have been friendlier or more helpful. Be that in reception, the bar, restaurant or the spa or golf shop. It felt like a country house hotel, not a glass and steel corporate. This may have been because it was sunday and there was no racing on or due for a day or so but who cares. This was a really nice experience.Evening meal was very good. Breakfast was a feast. Room was very comfortable (although it did get rather warm during the night and the air con wasn't very efficient).In truth the spa is a bit, well, sparce. The pool is ok and the gym is small but a sauna / steam room is desperately needed. Minor niggles when the service is so good.The golf course is well worth a visit even if you're not staying.

The hotel itself was lovely and we could not have chosen better. The twin room had 2 double beds and was very spacious, also spotlessly clean. The evening meal was delicious and the service was really good. Wine was expensive ¿¿25 for a bottle of Rose. Room service was good as we ran out of milk and extra supplies were delivered promptly. As for the spa...this was not a good experience for us. Really disappointed as I booked this for my daughter's 18th birthday and booked us both a massage. We were waiting at 11am, our appointment time and at 1105 we were told that we could only have half an hour each. I can't tell you how disappointed we were as this was the highlight of our weekend. They said we could reschedule for another day but being an hours drive, it really was not worth it. I could not get a refund for the treatments from Breathe Spa as I booked through another company that specialises these weekends. I was finally offered 2 x 2 treatments each but I will not go back. The attitude of some of the staff at the spa was not good. My daughter was given a 20 minute massage but being a beautician herself and noticing the decrease in pressure she was aware of clicking and that the therapist was texting on her phone! The jacuzzi could only fit 4 people, also the steam room and sauna...very small. On the day we were leaving we noticed a relaxation room but as we were not shown around when we arrived we were not aware of this. We were also not given robes and slippers....others were and we really don't know why we didn't get these. As I said....the hotel was brilliant but if you are looking for a spa weekend, don't go.

Had a great time here, only grumbles that bar ran out of chief ingredients on a Saturday night such as Lime / Mint. Not so good for a hotel advertising cocktails. Drinks prices also very high. ¿¿23 for bottle house red? Bar staff quite slow, in fairness not enough of them and slight attitude under pressure. With extra staff and better management this would have scored higher ratings with me.

I was given a spa treatment with afternoon tea as a birthday treat. Reception was welcoming and informative, and we were shown to our treatment room, the therapist was friendly but must have just come back from her break as she smelled strongly of cigarettes, which isn't what you want from the person handing out glasses of water and spa advice. The treatment was a self service affair and was really enjoyable. Not sure if we were on a busy day as the changing area was a mess, the bins of used towels and robes were over flowing, plastic cups left on the floor and there were empty tea cups in the relaxation room. Included in the gift was afternoon tea which we had outside as it was a sunny day. That was a mistake, it was filthy, tables had not been cleared and the floor was covered in litter, it was unpleasant. Afternoon tea arrived promptly, but we had to ask the waiter to clear the previous persons plates away as the she seemed to have no intention of clearing them despite the clutter on the table. Afternoon tea was ok, well presentedhowever no jam came with the scones/cream and when I went to the bar to ask for some there was only one member of staff on duty and he appeared to be run ragged, with lots of people waiting to be served so gave up waiting. Apart from usual selection of sandwiches, there was a scone, brownie, slice of cake and a cupcake covered in lurid green icing which hadn't been done at all well. (Think small child and an icing bag.....) Could have done with with a fork to eat wthe cake with as only a knife was supplied. If the changing rooms and outside bar area had been clean I would have had a lovely time instead of just an ok time, which was a shame as the weather was gorgeous and and location is stunning so had all the ingredients of a birthday treat.
