Hidden Gem in Puerto Rico...
My partner and I went to Gran Canaria to get some winter sun. Looked at lots of different locations / hotels on the island. We were thinking of staying in Mogan but there were limited accomodation options at a reasonable price available. Opted for Puerto Rico as an alternative, were initially overwhelmed by the 100s of hotels / apartments. Did the research and finally went with Bahia Blanca, based on reviews and hotel location. On arrival in Puerto Rico were initially horrified by all hotels facing each other high up on the mountain, relived to find as described Bahia Blanca was at the bottom of the hill facing the sea with nice views. Spent time in the standard and deluxe apartments, the deluxe were fantastic and definitely worth the extra money. However, the standard rooms were clean an comfortable, the only downside is standard rooms dont have a proper double bed, just two single beds fitted together, not overly suitable for young 'active' couples ;-) . I would highly recommend getting rooms on lower levels as they had their own gardens. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful, the restaurant was good and reasonably priced, with a useful shop for basic supplies. All in all think location wise we couldn't have done better in Puerto Rico, hotel was in a good central location, close to beaches with easy connections to other parts of the island by ferry or bus. We visited Mogan which was quaint and a must see. The town centre in Puerto Rico is very tacky, overall Puerto Rico gives you good access to the rest of the island. Hotel was family friendly, with swimming pool, bar and evening activities but wasnt too noisy, apartments were nice enough to hang out in if you wanted some privacy. Overall had great time in Gran Canaria and felt we really landed on our feet by staying at Bahia Blanca...

Watch the people go by
Just returned from a week in Bahia Blanca we had room 508, all rooms are roughly the same size i.e. quite small and some have been refurbished, however this is not one of them, this room is next to the lift which works 24 hrs a day and makes the same noise if it is going up one floor or to the 4th floor (Noisy) at times we had to stop chatting on the balcony until it had stopped. Also as this lift goes up the middle of the resort you need to be of a friendly disposition to stay in room 508 as it is next to the walkway (bridge) to half of the resort, therefore any meal or drink on the balcony involves a constant stream of people passing by and looking at you "a day at the zoo perhaps".As to the resort it is in need of refurbishment in the pool, pool bar and evening entertainment area (we understand this is being done in May this year) other than that the pool area is good with plenty of beds. Organised activities during the day and the animation staff worked hard, evening entertainment was not to my taste "Boy George and Tom Jones impersonators" and Karaoke.Ate in both Restaurant and Pool bar, Pool bar food was ok and reasonably priced, club sandwich was 3.60 euro quite well filled and with french fries, restaurant food was quite nice average price for the meals provided, agree with other comments it would help if the staff in Restaurant could understand English to a greater degree.Shop was well stocked for an onsite supermarket with most things that you would need. There is a short but very steep hill outside the resort to get to the path that leads to Puerto Rico or Amadores, a nice walk once you get to the path into either, it is lit but the lights may not work every night.Restaurants are ok in both places would recommend Oscars in Puerto Rico slightly higher price but worth it "book or you will not get in" also Izvar was very nice in same parade as Oscars. In Amadores La Barca was very good, had a lovely meal with very friendly staff.Would add that a taxi back to the resort after a meal in either Puerto Rico or Amadores is 3-4 euros, worth it to save walking up the hill

Words escape me ..it is superb
I am shocked at the reviews as we have an apt here and last year got to experience the refurbished ones. Come on, washing machine, dishwasher, wet room, toiletries, fitted wardrobes, leather sofa,..need I go on. Oh yes, step out on the balcony and tell me that sea view, uninterrupted, doesn't hit the spot. I am only young but it still gives me the same sense of calm every time I walk out. I will never give this place up. X

Poor but nice location
We were four people who stayed four days on level four. Had a nice visit because it was walking distance to a couple beaches and plenty of restaurants. On the negative side: ants in the appartment so anything remotely food-like was covered in ants within a very short time, so we always ate out. There were ants in the fridge when we came but a guy from reception removed them (they came back). Cats and cockroaches on the terrace at night so don't leave the door open. Leaky shower left water all over the bathroom after every shower. Rusty mirror cabinet. Foldout bed in the living room was OK, just quite hard. Reception couldn't and didnt want to answer any questions about activities or locations, just got shrugged off the three times I tried to get answers to specific questions.

Remember this is NOT a Gold Crown resort !!
I think my title and rating says it all.....My family and I (Parents over the age of 40 and two boys 10 and 8 ) are experienced 10+ years multiple timeshare owners and always exchange. Therefore I feel well qualified to do this review........We had a one bedroom REFURBISHED apartment which although small was very well appointed including washing and dish washer machines and lovely furniture.....The hotel is very clean and the staff friendly and polite (Lovely views as well from each apartment)......Not so good is the pool / bar and restaurant area's which are very tired and in need of frankly pulling down and starting again. Entertainment of sorts is provided each night ( Boy George / Barry White Impressionists anyone ?? ).....I can't comment on the food / drink as we never stayed due to the above reason however their was no need as their are many bars and restaurants which are a quick 10 -15 min walk away.....Note the hills / stairs maybe an issue for some.... We hired a car for the week and went exploring suggest Puerto Mogan and Fataga which is in the hills north of Maspalmas.....Puerto Rico is Chavy although they have a local market on Sunday morning which is very good. Overall a nice resort which I do recommend but remember it is NOT Gold Crown so don't expect one and you will not be disappointed.....The Browning Family
