This was our second stay at Monte Santo having first visited back in 2010. We were welcomed back to the resort and having arrived early they were happy to store our luggage for us until our room was available. We didn't rent a car last time but did this time, and benefitted from being able to drive in the local area and to the supermarket. However, we still took the short walk into town rather than the car- it is a bit steep but a good way to burn off dinner! The apartment was well stocked, with plenty of space to move around and the luxurious bathroom was great. We made full use of the kitchen and took some DVDs for evenings when we didn't feel like going out- the DVD, TV and Ipod set up was easy to use. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony everyday. The apartment was showing some signs of wear and tear- broken fridge shelf and front of safe, kitchen could have been cleaner and we did ask for that to be looked at when housekeeping next came. None of this spoiled our enjoyment. We didn't use the restaurant as there are so many fabulous places in town, although we did try and were disappointed with the 'happy hour' cocktail of the day so didn't repeat that experience. If you are eating in town in the evening then our favourite restaurants are Villa Medici and Via Italia, and Boneca Bar set in the cliffs on the outskirts of town. We also like Stone Steak at Monte Carvoeiro- great steak but make sure you leave space for the flamb¿¿ dessert, cooked at your table side! As we were leaving we discussed- will we be back a third time? The answer- YES. Look forward to seeing you again Monte Santo.

Just spent a week at Monte Santo resort and thought it was great. Two bed suite was perfect, beautifully decked out, nice toiletries, well stocked kitchen, friendly helpful staff. Would definitely go back. Kids loved the pools ( the indoor one could do with being a little warmer and it would have been naive to have the outdoor toddler pool heated too. Nice playground too. Lots of lovely restaurants and lots of supermarkets nearby. Probably most convenient to have a car but did see lots of taxis.

We, my wife, toddler and I stayed here in low-season in April. Really impressed with the resort, the rooms were very spacious and the kitchen was top quality. Great very safe and very large balcony area. Rooms serviced daily. Very glad we rented a car and the InterMarche was relatively close and we cooked most nights. Location was great for exploring the wonderful beaches of the Algarve both east and west. Could find minor problems and WIFI on my mac was very temperamental to say least but its important to remember its not ones home but a great getaway resort.

This is the second time i've been to Monte Santo and somehow, this trip was even better than then last. We got a two bedroom apartment/villa and all of the amenities are superb. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could need. In the bathrooms you are supplied with lovely toiletries and more towels than you could ever use! We had a two bedroom place and it had three bathrooms!! The common areas (pool, restaurant, club house) are all kept immaculately clean and are really of the highest quality.We had lunch several times in the restaurant and the Ceasar salad is delicious! They also do a Sunday lunch option (3 courses for 10 euros) which i think i great value for families.The thing that really makes this place stand out is the service. As the apartments are self-catering, you can be left completely by yourself if that is what you want, or you can take advantage of all the resort has to offer. We had breakfast brought to our room one morning which was lovely! The concierge called us every day to ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything. We needed to make a call to the transfer company and they lady on reception was kind enough to call for us and arrange it!It was my birthday while we were there are they kindly arranged for a birthday cake and a bottle of bubbly to be left in our fridge when we returned from a day at the beach!Carlos on the front desk was really an amazing member of staff and they all really couldn't do enough to try and make our stay more comfortable.We also both had a massage each and the lady who does them is AMAZING!!I was really surprised to see some more negative reviews on here. There isn't a shop on site but it doesn't actually say that there is one anywhere on their website. Its is a 25/30 (and that's walking pretty slowly!) minute walk to the town but it is all downhill and i did it in flip flops every single time. There is a cafe that we stop at half way down to have a coffe/icecream and the views really are amazing so its worth the walk! Anyone who's remotely fit could do it. I'm 26 and i went with my mother who is 46 and we had no issue. When its a bit hotter, it would probably be hard but it was 29C while we were there and we were fine. I saw several people with prams do it! And if you cant be bothered to walk, a cab ride to the town is 5Euros and they will happily call one for you.I can't think of a single thing to complain about and i am going to book again as soon as i can! I imagine they are very busy in peak season so i prefer to go out of season (May and late September) as i'm not one for crowds! I cant comment on what the place is like then but im sure it is amazing!

This is a good hotel I would rate as a standard 4 star. First morning we went for breakfast @ 08:10 breakfast opens at 08:00. Doors locked and lady opened on seeing us; coffee served another 20 minutes later. I got the impression we were a little earlier for them. On our last day I asked could we stay in room until 14:00 this could not be accommodated and no real alternative provided except we could stay on premises and use facilities; not really what you expect from a five star. We did enjoy our stay and apartments are excellent highly recommend dining out in near by carvoiero some excellent restaurants. Recommend having a car when staying here.
