Great weekend break
We stayed in this hotel at the weekend and could not fault anything about it. From check in to check out, we were delighted with the service we received. Everyone was helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was just excellent. We ate in the bar one night and in the restaurant on the other. Rooms were clean an all amenities provided for. Would definitely return in the future again.

Nice Hotel with good faculties let down by very poor restaurant & bar service.
I stayed here for a few nights on business. The room was nice, probably early two thousands decor, (just to put a timeframe on it), CRT TV, consisting of a double bed, two nice armchairs, desk, wardrobe and spacious bathroom. The bed was firm but reasonably comfortable. There were extra pillows in the wardrobe and there was a welcome iron and ironing board (welcome to anyone travelling requiring a shirt to be ironed!). The reception staff were very friendly. I hate having to say it but the service in the bar/restaurant was atrocious. By way of an example..., I stood waiting both evenings quite some time to be served. It felt like I was putting the staff out taking my order. My server put my cutlery down on a table that was obviously filthy. I said it to him and he apologised and cleaned it up. The food in fairness was nice with very generous portions. I had chowder & a Caesar salad with tiger prawns as starters, then a Cottage Pie & Fish bake as main courses over the two nights. Later I had thought I'd get a drink at the bar as a night cap and I stood for ages trying to get the attention of the bar maid. There were probably 5 or 6 people in the bar. When she finally looked up shd looked at me then said 'do you want something' , to which I asked for a pint of beer. She said 'sorry, you'll have to wait' and she headed off to reception carrying some receipts or paperwork. I stood in amazement. I waited a while.. around 10 mins before I decided to give up on my drink and just head for bed (it was around 10.30pm). I passed the bar maid on my way and she said, 'do you still want that drink?'. I refused and headed for bed. This pretty much sums up the service both nights in the bar/restaurant & breakfast. Don't expect silver service by a long shot. It's a huge huge pity. The hotel and grounds are lovely and as I said the reception staff are excellent. It just doesn't fit that this is so incredibly weak.

tired rooms & very slow/understaffed
room 215 was small and dated. bed wasn't very comfortable, skinny pillows (2 equaled 1 normal), rough sheets with old "itchy" blanket & bedspread (a duvet with a sheet would have been nice). poor choice of tv channels: itv, rte1, rte2, 3, sky news. spa/pool provided towels & swim hats but no way of locking the lockers, steam room was out of order, jacuzzi felt cold when seated. breakfast was only available in one small function room which there was a queue of 5 couples ahead of us as well as several behind. took over half hour to be seated, no cooked breakfast tea/coffee order was taken after being seated. after 15mins watching people before & after us getting their orders taken & food served did we get our order taken because we had to call a woman over for service. food was slow to arrive afterwards. overall everything could have been better

A Country Hotel with a Difference
We stayed at this hotel for a few days, as we were at a wedding reception here.The staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our children enjoyed playing in the grounds, which are both extensive and safe, and we all enjoyed swimming in the warm waters of the indoor pool.The gym is well equipped, and you can even have a game of tennis with rackets that they will lend you.The food and drink were fabulous too.

Weekend Break
Just back from a family wedding reception and we had a truly wonderful weekend. Very friendly and helpful staff; nothing was a problem for them. Excellent food at wedding reception, and breakfasts and evening meals were equally good. The pool is of a high standard as is the gym. I really cannot say anything negative about this hotel and look forward to spending another weekend there soon.
