Standard rooms - extremely disappointed.
We had booked three rooms for a family celebration. One room is lovely and the other two rooms would be classed as 3 star at best. We have asked to change the rooms to refurbished rooms but have been told no rooms are available as a conference is arriving tomorrow and they are overbooked. They have offered us another hotel 3kms away which is not suitable with a small baby. It is obvious that the management were unwilling to assist and care more about making their money out of the conference attendees than they do about providing a service to people who have paid a lot of money for their annual holiday. Poor service from Tivoli, and not the 5 star service that they advertise.

Fantastic week away
The Hotel on arrival has all the making of any excellent European 5* Hotel. The luggage is transferred from the coach to your room without lifting a finger and there are cold refreshments on arrival in reception. The communal areas in the hotel eg lobby, pool etc are all finished to a very high standard and will not disappoint.However we initially had a room on the 2nd floor. Now floors 1,2,7 havn't been renovated and are more like the sort of things you'd expect in a 2* star hotel. So make sure you book one of the deluxe rooms to ensure your not disappointed as we were able to upgrade.The location is fantastic it's right at the heart of the Harbour; and really does look quite spectacular in the evening.

Trusted favourite that does not disappoint
Just returned from 9 day stay at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura. The location is the best you could hope for. Overlooking the marina one side and the beach/sea the other. The hotel is classed as 5* and deserves its rating. Stayed in a sup deluxe room overlooking pool and beach. Sun all day long. Room is spacious and well fitted out. Bathroom large and spotlessly clean. Restaurant good and service v good. Okay it's on the pricey side slightly, but it's a 5 star and you sort of expect that. Bar service in evening is also good and beers/spirits equally on the expensive side. But hey your on hol.Pool area is large and spacious. Sun beds available throughout the day. Pool was on the cold side but heated up as temps lifted. Waiter service around the pool.Only gripe was soft drinks expensive in pool area so families be aware. Then again supermarket across from hotel will solve that little problem.Would I recommend, definitely.... Enjoy!

good 4 star hotel !!
just come back from a 3 night break in the Tivoli you cannot fault the location for a very relaxing break but is in need of a update to the rooms especially the bathroom shower was poor with an old shower curtain and the balcony had old green felt on the floor and plastic furniture (not five star im used to). but it had some nice touches like free safe pool towels rooms turned down and chocolate each night the staff were lovely although the reception staff need a bit of customer relation training. the pool area is very nice and tidy but the pool toilets needed some attention. the beach is just in front of the hotel and we went to the beach club we paid 10 euro's for a sunbed which we thought was very good as the sunbeds further down the beach were just the same price but not as nice. On the whole there were more positives and i would book again if i got the same deal.

Expect to be moved days before you are due to go!
We booked a holiday here 4 months ago for a weeks stay. With a 6 month old and 19 month old we chose this hotel as it is right on the beach with restaurants and the marina just a few minutes walk away. We received an email from Thomas Cook a week before departure saying we were being moved to its sister hotel, the Tivoli Victoria, a golf resort 5km from the beach and marina. The very reason we booked the Tivoli Marina was due to its great location. We ended up cancelling and received a full refund for our holiday from Thomas Cook. We found out the hotel was holding a medical conference during the week we were there and had overbooked rooms so we had to be moved. I find the attitude of the hotel disgusting - we had our family holiday booked 4 months in advance, paid in full, and we were being kicked out as they had given away our room to people attending the conference. After reading other reviews it seems we are certainly not alone and this is a common occurrence. We will definitely not be considering the Tivoli for future holidays.
