Ok, for the price.
I booked this hotel as it seemed the most reasonable price when the others were ¿¿100+, so I wasn't expecting the Ritz! On arriving it was clear this was simply a pub with bedrooms upstairs and there seemed to be nothing separating the hotel guests to the riff-raff alcoholics, but I overlooked this. The female staff member was very nice and showed me to the room which itself was comfortable, although in need of a decorating upgrade. The bath had a large crack in it and the toilet wasn't the cleanest with a rotten toilet brush! The bed was quite hard and there was only one extra pillow available! I then realised the shower was totally unusable and had no hot water whatsoever! Unfortunately the room kettle didn't work and the supplied glasses were quite dirty. Breakfast was fine although the dippy 16 year old waitress forgot to give us our toast. In summary, this hotel isn't bad if you are staying for one night and don't want to spend a fortune and you can accept a few hiccups. Had I paid any more, I wouldn't have been impressed.

Some good, some bad
This is a Wadsworth owned pub with rooms. Located on a busy junction, but well within walking distance (20 mins) of B'mouth town centre. The place was clean if a little tired, but the welcome was genuine and first rate (5 pips to the young lady that greeted us) We were shown to our room, which was to be home for 3 nights. First impressions were pleasing. The room was 'compact' and everything was neat and tidy but like the general decor, tired. Amazing how dim lighting makes a difference to ones perceptions. After an inspection, I found the following. Am I being picky? READ ON. Heavily stained red patterned carpet (but felt clean) Dressers were shabby, complete with drawers that ALL had loose handles, which I tightened. The wardrobe, I think, was an MFI reject, very flimsy and on the 'wonk'. To open the doors, you had to tilt the carcass so it was vertical, before you could open them. Inside were three tacky coat hangers. (we asked for more, but they never arrived) Only one bedside table, so nowhere to put my cuppa. The bed was so hard, I actually checked to see if there was a mattress or just boards on the frame. It was a mattress! The bathroom was small as well. The shower was clean and a good size, but the sliding door would not stay closed as the tray was on the 'wonk' as well. The loo was clean, but there was only a 1/4 loo roll left and no replacement. There was no towel rail, although the bracket was still on the wall. The door was of the bi-fold type, opening into the room. The handle was missing and the only way you could open it was to squeeze your fingers over the top of the door and pull inwards. We returned quite late on our second night to find the room had not even been serviced. Bed unmade, dirty cups and none of the tea/coffee replenished. Worst of all, no loo roll. (luckily we had bought some of our own on our way back, just in case.)Now for the breakfast. FIRST DAY. Full English was good. Pity the chef could not distinguish between fried and poached egg. I had ordered the latter. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was excellent. Portions were generous and the service prompt, obliging and friendly.SECOND DAY. Dirty cutlery and the cheese and bacon omlette I ordered miraculously came out as egg and herb. How does that work? The service was excellent though and done with a smile. Unfortunately, because of family illness, we had to leave after this breakfast, leaving the last B & B paid for but not used. Will I get a refund. I did ask, but was told that that would be a head office decision. We will see. I'm not holding my breath.MESSAGE TO WADSWORTH. I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR QUALITY STANDARDS

Value for money Sunday lunch
This is our second visit to Dean Park Inn for Sunday lunch and it is very good value for money. The food is well cooked and the new management are very friendly. We all had the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with fresh vegetables. For desert we had the sticky toffee pudding which was light and very tasty. The new management are very enthusiastic and I hope Wadworth's will invest in some new decorations and it could become a very popular place to stay and eat.

Wedding Party
We were part of a wedding party booked into the Dean Park Inn for 2 nights and after reading some of the bad reviews on here were a bit apprehensive what we were going to find on arrival. We needn`t have worried we were welcomed by a friendly lady behind the bar who booked us in quickly and efficiently before taking us to our bedroom(ROOM 4).I have to say it wasn`t a very big room and the decor was very tired but the linen and bathroom was clean. The bed could do with a new mattress as the springs were starting to come through which meant you were restricted where you laid. The breakfasts served here are superb:- Full English, smoked salmon and scambled eggs, as well as a table full of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juices, yogurts and toast.better than some breakfasts we have had at much more expensive hotels. The lounge and bar area does need decorating, everything is tired and battered and the carpets are quite stained but we understand that it is just under new management so hopefully this will be rectified very soon. The friendliness and efficiency of all the staff is second to none, nothing is too much trouble. We would definitly recommend this to our family and friends and stay here again when we re-visit Bournemouth
