Excellent value and very comfortable
If you're staying more than one or two nights, serviced apartments are a great choice over a hotel. Lots of space and having a kitchen-dining area makes a huge difference, especially to someone with special dietary requirements. Staycity Manchester is on the edge of the Northern Quarter, very close to Manchester Piccadilly railway station and a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens. The apartments are very modern and spotlessly clean. Towels, toiletries and a supply of tea & coffee making stuff are there on arrival. Although the view is a bit "industrial" the 6th floor apartment I had had a large balcony overlooking the city. The kitchen was excellently equipped and all the kitchen equipment, including the oven, was shiny clean. Dishwasher, very large fridge/freezer and plenty of glasses, plates bowls etc. Even staying there on my own was less expensive than a room in a Holiday Inn, and if there are several of you staying it makes complete sense to stay in an apartment like this. Also, wifi is free once you have registered with their provider. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful and there is a large ALDI supermarket 50 yards from the lobby entrance. I thoroughly recommend Staycity and if I have to visit another city where Staycity have apartments I will definitely stay with them again.

Nice apartment, shame about the flooring and the admin!
At the point of booking, I reserved a space in the car park underneath the apartments. Upon arrival I was advised that there wasn't any space, it seems pointless to be able to reserve a space if they aren't going to honour it! The staff didn't seem to care about this.Once I had been directed to a multi-storey around the corner, we unloaded and headed for reception again. The lady behind the desk advised that the previous guests in our apartment had managed to go home with the key, although not totally the fault of Staycity, do they not ask for the keys back at the point of check out?The lady behind the desk then had to call someone to find out where the spare keys were kept as she had no idea. So after 15-20 odd minutes stood in reception she came back with a key. Surely if you knew the key had been taken you would prep the spare? Am I thinking too logically?The apartment itself was quite nice, plenty of room and everything present that we would need for our stay. However the wooden floor was awful. It didn't fit properly and there were clearly bits missing as when you walked on the floor it moved underneath you.Upon check out I handed over the key and was then presented an invoice for ¿¿13, for the car parking. Totally amateur and infuriating! After advising the lady behind reception of the original debacle she ripped it up.In summary, the apartment was reasonable for the price (apart from the flooring), but it has been let down by the administration.

Good value for large groups
We were here as a group of 9, booked 2 apartments, one slept 6 and the other 3.Apartment 1, 6 people - consisted of 2 rooms, 1 en-suite, each had two single beds, the remaining beds were two sofa beds. Apartment 2, 3 people - consisted of 1 room with 2 singles and a sofabed in the living room.The beds were mediocre, small singles. The sofabeds were quite good quality. En-suite was ok but the shower tray was very slow to drain away, one of my friends managed resolve the problem, turned out the drain area hasn't been cleaned for a long time. Kitchens were well equipped with the usual utensils, cutlery, crockery including a dishwasher.All you need for a night in for dinner, though we didn't take advantage of this.There was a small utility room with a washing machine.The sound insulation between rooms was very poor, from my bedroom I could hear the adjacent bathroom so loud, it was like I was sleeping in the bathroom! Also you can hear people upstairs walking around.The apartments were being to show the wear and tear, cracked tiles, missing thresholds between kitchen tiles and laminate flooring. WiFi was free you will need to register and get the code word. If you want to save some money on the parking, there are loads of surface carparks surrounding the apartment, typical prices are ¿¿8 for 24 hours. on-street parking is free between 20:00 and 08:00 the following morning. If you look on streetview for Ducie Street, there is a car park that'll charge ¿¿3/24 hours.if you are planning on eating in and need supplies there is an Aldi - 2-3 minutes walk away.Printworks/Arndale centre is about 10-15 minutes walk away.

Brilliant apartments ....
We have just come back from a Hen Weekend, staying at the Staycity apts in Manchester, we had an amazing weekend and the apartments were perfect, very comfortable and clean and pretty much had all we needed.Staff were excellent, helpful and very friendlyWould be best suited for Hen/Stag Parties and other weekends away :)

Nice Room, Poor Curtains
A night out in Manchester with my grown up family, staying over in this apartment. The room was very nice, fully furnished and the kitchen was well equiped. The check-in was painfully slow, nearly 15 min with only 2 other people ahead of us. The parking was unusual but ok, however the local carparks offer a much better nightly rate - ¿¿8 for 24hr vs ¿¿13 at Staycity. They also "freeze" ¿¿50 per person from your credit card, no reason given its just what they do, a bit irritating. The view was great, but the curtains throughout fitted poorly with a lot of light spill around the edges. Bad enough in the morning, but even worse when the 100W light outside could not be turned off! That was a shame because 2 out of 5 of the family had a poor nights sleep. Other than that the beds were comfortable and the temperature easy to control. I'd go back, but I'd take a good look at the Place Apartments, which is close by, first.
