I will definitely stay at this hotel again.. The staff were friendly, helpful, efficient and respectful. Breakfast is adequate for the price, with variety on the a la carte menu. Gym and indoor pool were fantastic - clean and well-ventilated. And the can company is right next door! Proximity to Don Mills shopping is super too...

Birthday Specials!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Don Valley Hotel and Suites on Saturday night since it was my birthdayon Sunday. A little get away for my birthday celebration. The lady at the front desk that we talked to, Risha... was just simply AMAZING. She noted that it was my birthday the next day and gave us an extra special room that included the balcony! The room was simply beautiful! it was very spacious, very bright and the room setting was just perfect. Risha's level of customer service was outstanding! She even called as soon as we got upstairs to see how we liked it. I know for a fact that I will be staying there again, and I hope I bump into Risha at the front desk again ;)

dissapointed
too many to list, breakfast is bad (only one type of egg served) juice taste cheap, I had breakfast twice out of the 11 days i stayed here (and had it included in price)the biggest shock was with house keeping, 3 times my room was not cleaned because I leave around 2-3pm and they simply not bothered then, as they told me we leave at 4pm, what they do is they come to the room and take the "Do Not Disturb" sign and stick it on door and just leave as if I forgot to take it out. at one point i went to get Ice came back this lady asking me to clean room at 2pm, I said another hour ill leave she literally rolled her eyes at me and kissed her teeth, when i left an hour after i informed reception, came back later that night the bathroom towels replaced nothing else in room done.I had at one point a package delivered to my room (online shopping) was a gift for my anniversary where I paid extra to have it delivered next day, UPS confirmed delivery, took me 3 times speaking to reception every time i was told package not here and assured and reassured its not here, i called UPS back and forth until midnight when the night staff arrived they found my package with the reception manager....I did not even get an apology.the vending machine in 6th floor don't work, I tried ground floor took $4 of me showed one staff, nothing done about it...Very bad experience, This is my 12th visit to Scarborough in past 3 years, I have stayed in 6 Hotels in this area (including this hotel once before) but this time this was my worst experience yet.Dont bother complaining, the staff have this attitude where they make you feel like you are bothering them with your whining...Today there is no hot water at all, I called after 10 minutes of wait on phone I was told to get a call back in 10 minutes... An hour later no one calls I call back and get same attitude of "stop whining" very horrible stay

Charming Modern Hotel in North York
I stayed here for over a month during renovations to my house after a fire. A Hotwire special that's out of the way in North York near the Science Centre, it's a quite nice hotel that's also generally fairly empty, great for avoiding the crowds.First let's get the bad out of the way - the location is really pretty terrible. It's not near anything. Nothing is walkable, and you really need a car to get out and about. Even the bus they make it hard to get to by locking all the doors adjacent to Eglinton Avenue. You sort of wonder why they'd build a hotel there with no attractions or restaurants or anything at all around it. Very car-centric, and parking of course is extra.The rooms are nice, especially the "renovated" rooms on floors 2 through 4. Floors 5 and 6 are the budget rooms. The rooms, facilities, and hotel overall are generally clean, tidy, and attractive, but there are a few little things you notice like peeling wallpaper, minor dirt, loose hinges, toilets prone to clogging, that can bring it down a peg. A little more attention to detail would go a long way, Mr, Manager if you're reading. Nothing major though, the rooms exceeded our expectations. Soundproofing between rooms is not the greatest, but the place is empty enough they seem to leave buffer rooms anyway.The pools and fitness facilities are excellent. Maybe looking a little dated, but the fitness centre was nearly a full gym, the pool and hot tub clean and frequently used, and the locker and steam rooms tidy and in good working order.The bar was very nice. I must have had half the menu, and the shrimp tacos appetizer was the only thing I wouldn't recommend, everything else was delicious, just lovely. You can tell they have a very skilled kitchen staff. It's a little expensive. The Garden Cafe seems to be open only intermittently, I presume when there's a convention at the place. It seems to be closed almost all of the time. The breakfast buffet seemed to have some serious staffing problems, with the demand at times overwhelming the waiters and the cooks. I wouldn't reccommend it if you're in a rush. The lack of low-fat protein options was also mildly dissapointing.Service at the place was absolutely excellent. From the maids to the front desk to the bar, and even the maintenence crew, we took in plenty of service over the course of a month, and pretty much everything was prompt, polite, and efficient. They really outdid themselves. A nice little hotel, would certainly recommend. Great prices, very competitive for the quality.

Meh not worth the price
Pros: Very friendly/helpful morning staff. I was able to check in early.Cons: Out dated rooms, minimal Channels on the TV. The bedding was clean as well as the bathroom but there was an overall dustyness to the room. Expensive breakfast. I was early so did not expect for my room (executive King) to be ready right away and was willing to wait. The desk cleck told me they did not have the room ready but if I was willing to take any room I could check in, be tired I agreed (my mistake). I was told there were no upgrade rooms available although the clerk checking in the rich looking business man to my right said he could have his choice of room. I stayed at a MOTEL for half the price the previous evening that had a flat screen, all channels, free breakfast, free parking ,fridge and a microwave ($25 @ TDV). I will not stay here again not worth it. The pics on the web sight are of the upgraded rooms($25 more) pay the extra or stay elsewhere.
