poor food
Nice pub, liked the atmosphere. There on a Friday night, not busy still managed to get a good table. The food however was not great. I had pork belly which was dry and well overcooked with not very much with it. Husband ordered fish and chips but they brought him a different sort of fish dish. We were hungry so didn't bother to correct them. Its not cheap for pub food but wouldnt eat there again

Disappointing
We stayed for 2 nights for a family funeral and chose the hotel as it wasn't far from a family home. One of the rooms was ok, the other 2 were very small, insufficient power points, shower broken and spraying water everywhere, shower door not closing properly. It appears to be being run by part time bar staff though they charge exorbitant hotel prices due to its location. Admittedly, had we been tourists, we may have put up with the many minus points as its on the doorstep of the Palace. There was a problem with the bill, as the deposit wasn't taken off when we paid in full on the night of arrival. Then they refunded us twice on check out as there was no supervisor on duty till an hour after check out. Can't blame the bar staff as they're full attention was on running the bar, not providing a reasonable check in experience. Management really should sort this out - not impressed at all!

Brilliant location but a little rough around the edges
Stayed here at the Kings Arms Hotel (which is a Pub Hotel) late 2012.Location is brilliant for Hampton Court, literally right next to it. Pub is very cosy too. Staff were pretty unfriendly/unhelpful at first but got slightly better throughout the stay. Be advised if you have heavy luggage that there are a number of steep, narrow staircases to navigate so it could be tricky and was offered no help whatsoever.Decor of the room is absolutely lovely, definitely in the style of the appropriately-named Tudor characters. Was a little bit cramped though. Also, a number of problems with the room which made the stay an average one when it could have been a very good one - heating was not working when I first got here, although this was largely rectified, window was broken slightly so would not close properly (and they didn't have any spare rooms) which made the room even colder and noisier, the walls are quite thin, so throughout the night I could hear creaking on the stairs from the outside corridors and levels above plus the voices of other guests.Breakfast was included and was very decent.Overall, the price represented very good value (if I recall correctly, I paid around ¿¿60 for the night which included breakfast) but a couple of the issues with the hotel stopped the stay being great. Which is a shame, as they could easily be rectified (and hopefully are by now!).

A nice friendly pub
Stayed one night 13th April.Wanted to go to Hampton Court, the pub is right next to the lion gate, (where the maze is) parking could be a problem, they only have four spaces outside the pub, and they were taken by people who were going to a wedding. There is pay and display about 100yds away, which worked well, you have 4 hours max, so if you get there for 14.30 you could see the gardens or the palace, then 4 hours the next morning will complete your tour.It is a proper old fashioned pub, floorboards, candles nooks and crannies, but we enjoyed it.We had room 11, overlooking the front and main road, but secondary glazing kept any traffic noise to a minimum. They have a wide range of cask ales, and some very, very good wines. The weather was awful on Saturday, so after a smooth check in (the pub was very busy) we took our brollies and walked around the gardens, and got back to the pub around 18.00.It was quite then, I think people stayed in because of the weather, you can eat anywhere in the pub, or at one end they have a an area laid out like a small restaurant, we ate there. The food was pub food, I had shin@cheek of beef stew with dumplings, very good, my wife fish and chips, also very good. The room was fine, very clean, tea and coffee available, and flat screen TV, nice towels and bath gel.Breakfast was very good, all the usual suspects plus kippers!!Staff were young , but helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our brief stay and would definitely go back if in the area.

Fine for a short stay - Good Service
Decided on The Kings Arms for a one night stay due to its proximity to Hampton Court and you could not be better positioned! We had slight concerns over parking as the hotel only has 6 dedicated slots and although street parking becomes available after 6:30 pm, we did not fancy a "bun fight" to find parking. As it happens, we arrived at the hotel at lunchtime to find half the dedicated slots free and although we were early for check in we parked up and had lunch . The menus are not extensive and we settled on the soup, which was ok and set us up for the afternoon attack on Hampton Court. We will say that we found all the staff most helpful, friendly and by far the high point of the hotel. The Kings Arms is as much a pub as a hotel but was not particularly busy with regard to either of these aspects and we are not completely convinced it achieves either massively well. The rooms we stayed in were cosy, warm and reasonably decorated. The first room we stayed in had an issue with the shower which refused to allow hot water to flow (probably requiring a thermostat cartridge change), however, the staff quickly relocated us without hesitation to another room. Despite the rooms overlooking the main road there was not much in the way of street noise, nor was there much noise heard from the pub below, that may be because it was a quiet night. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, preferring to walk round to the MEZZET Lebanese restaurant close by (which is highly recommended)., however, we did have breakfast which was VERY GOOD. The Kings Arms is an average hotel which is ideally placed for Hampton Court and we would recommend it for a short stay. The staff were really GOOD, made you feel at home and were keen to sort out any problems you had.
