Great location, great value
This is a brilliant hotel in a very convenient location. When we were there it was undergoing refurbishment and there was scaffolding all over the outside. However, this did not detract from our experience. Our room was spacious and quiet. The soft furnishings and decor were clearly new and fresh and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with a superb shower. We had no difficulty in accessing wifi in our room. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room as well as in the lounge area which is also spacious and comfortable. The coffee is good and there is wine between 6.00 and 7.00 pm Monday to Friday - a welcome surprise. The staff are welcoming and professional and were happy to store our bags as we arrived too early for check-in and we were leaving late. The concierge was helpful and more than willing to confirm our airport shuttle service. We had booked room only and there is a superb all day breakfast place just a few doors away towards Lexington Ave. We ate there every day. I am happy to recommend this hotel to anyone and I would use it again.

great location and warm welcome on a winters day
we stayed here during a low season week at the beginning of feb - great price and all round very happy with the hotel. WE did room only and did not participate in any of the welcome drinks that they offered but my husband did get coffee from their machine most evenings. wifi in their communal area was good but this is the one aspect that I would ask for them to consider improving and making hotel wide. their doorstaff were great and gave you a warm welcome every time you cam "home" as they called it. its a small hotel which had some people still staying after hurricane sandy which may have added to the homely feel. wasn't impressed with the dinner next door but the hotel is walking distance to central station and near duane reades/cvs etc so great location we will be back

First time stay, nice experience
The Affinia 50 was recommended to us and we decided to stay there because the price was good. The staff was very friendly, noticeably so. The concierge, David, was especially helpful, giving us tips that helped improve our experience at the hotel and in NYC. He, as well as the rest of the staff were super-friendly. This trip was in April and the weather was still cool, so we wanted to warm up the room a bit. The radiators had already been turned off but the staff was quick to provide a portable electric radiator. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for any request to be met. This hotel was in the midst of some renovation and there was scaffolding around the building, which took away from the "view" of and from the hotel. However, there was scaffolding on almost every block that we walked; it seemed as if all of NYC is undergoing a facelift.

Great location
Great location and close to the subway, so it was easy to get around. High cleanliness. Toiletries from an American brand in the bathroom (frequently replaced when used them up). Air condition and mini bar. A little bit noisy in the nights. Except that, we had a great stay.

Promising Mid-Town Boutique Hotel
The location of this hotel is wonderful if you want to be close to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc. It was an easy 25 minute ride from LaGuardia Airport. The hotel and surrounding area are under construction though. I made my reservation months in advance and was never notified that there was construction going on. Technically, it did not inferfere with our stay, but it may have been an annoyance for some since the construction goes on from early AM to late PM. We were given a newly refurbished room and were the first to stay in it. It was a real treat being the first guests in the room! It was the only time I was completely comfortable to walk barefoot in a hotel! The room decor was pleasing and modern. The bed was heavenly and we were able to choose the pillows of our choice off the "pillow menu". The NYC weather was a bit cool, but the room was a touch stuffy. We informed the front desk and were told that the air conditioner was not set up in the room. They immediately brought us a fan and it took care of the problem. Our room was supposed to have a mini-bar, but it was so new that they had not put it in yet. My husband had to leave the hotel, at night, to get some bottled water for us. We had the continental breakfast buffet and it was adequate, but the 2nd floor lounge doubles as the buffet area, wifi area, concierge area, etc. and it was cramped. Overall our stay was very good. The hotel was exactly what we needed for this particular trip and the price was decent. I don't think I would stay there again, only because the city has hundred's of hotel's and I would want to try something different, but I would certainly recommend it to others.
