SHOCKINGLY BAD customer service that ruined our friends last few days in Edinburgh
Some of our friends stayed here recently and although the apartments themselves were OK (albeit a bit on the cold side) the CUSTOMER SERVICE they and I received was SHOCKINGLY BAD, the worst I have encountered ever, but I will say that this was with the fault of the man who served us at check in, other staff there were very courteous.Our friends were staying for three days just after moving out of their apartment and returning to their home country after finishing studies at Edinburgh uni. Everything had been paid in advance and we arrived in my car full of their luggage and tried to check in where we gave the name, showed the printed email confirmation etc but were told we could not check in until either my friend showed his credit card with which he paid or we pay ¿¿50 in cash as form of a deposit which would be returned on check out. Unfortunately his credit card was back in his old apartment where we had to return to anyway to pick up some more luggage and his heavily pregnant wife and we didn't have any cash on us so we asked if we could put the luggage in the apartment and then go and get the other luggage and family and bring the card then. Again we were refused and when I enquired why the man on check in bellowed at us "WELL HOW DO I KNOW WHO HE SAYS HE IS, HOW DO I KNOW IT WASN'T SOMEONE ELSES CARD HE PAID WITH AND THIS IS FRAUD. UNLESS I HAVE THE CARD THERE IS NO WAY OF PROVING THIS ISN'T FRAUD."Frankly my friend and I were both shocked at this level of rudeness and he was forced to go back to his apartment to get his card to prove who he was....I am really not sure how paying ¿¿50 in cash would have helped prove it wasn't fraud but who am I to say.Anyway, as my friend went to get his card and I stayed in reception another group were checking in with another assistant (Australian girl I think) who was the complete opposite. When a girl came in from a car to check in she kindly and courteously explained "I'm really sorry madam, but we need the card holder who booked the room to check in so would it be OK to get her to come in with her card so we can verify the details?" which is how it should have been done.15 minutes later my friend arrived with his card and the man dealing with us forced a smile and curtly said "see, that was all I was after, everything is OK now" which didn't do anything to make the situation worse.For the next few days my friend kept on about this treatment and asked "why did he think I was trying to commit fraud" and his wife was also very upset by the incident when she found out about it and this cast a very dark shadow over the last few days of a 9 month stay in Edinburgh.

Excellent value for money, well presented, in good location - 5/5
This was my second stay at the Fountain Court Grove Apartments & I am really glad I visited again. I cant fault them really! Taking price, the onsite secure parking, location, and quality into consideration I consider this place unbeatable. Reception area is pleasant, modern & staff very friendly / welcoming. The apartments were fresh, comfortable & of a really nice standard. Modern leather sofas, flat screen TVs & good quality furnishings. We didnt really use the kitchen to cook as we ate out but it looked like all the facillities were in place - in the hall it certainly smelt like others were making full use of their kitchens!Bathroom was nice and modern, and shower easy enough to use, complete with shower wash & shampoo at hand. We found the 1st floor apartment to be the right temperature, not too hot like some other reviews suggested. Nearby to the complex there is a tesco extra which is handy for picking up bits & bobs , and the walk to Princess Street isnt too far - although I wouldnt reccommend in heels! Overall a brilliant stay - I cant imagine ever opting to stay elsewhere again when I visit the capital. Fountain court really does tick all the boxes.

GREAT BASE FOR EXPLORING EDINBURGH!
Excellent, comfortable, clean & spacious apartment! 15m walk to the castle. ¿¿6-8 for a taxi into town/train station. Well-equipped apartment. Facilities included; tea, coffee & milk, salt & pepper, washing up liquid, tea towel, dish cloth, sponge, pots, pans, cutlery, cafetiere, bathroom towels, shampoo, shower gel, iron and board, torch. There is a tesco express less than a 5 min walk away.We would certainly stay again & recommend!

Great alternative to staying in a hotel
We stayed here last night and were very happy with the accommodation. Check-in was quick and friendly. The apartment was great - everything you need for a self catering option - well stocked kitchen with all cutlery, crockery, washing up liquid etc provided. Towels and toiletries also in the bathroom. Some items were missing from the inventory but none of them essential. TV and midi hi-fi in living room. Clean and warm, a bit too warm so had to open the windows. There are a list of restaurants where you can get 10-20% off your food bill just by showing your room key which is a nice bonus. The apartments are on a quiet street with a couple of caf¿¿s on it, Tesco express round the corner too for stocking up on supplies. We wished we'd booked an extra night and will definitely return to Fountain Court next time we're staying in Edinburgh.

Nice base, good location
Nice, clean apartment - good location not right in the centre but a 5 min walk from the castle and maybe 20 - 25 mins from Waverley Station. It was like a small one bed flat and had all the mod cons so was nice being self catered and there is a tesco round the corner for stocking up. Two minus points - 10:30 checkout was a bit too early for us and the radiator in the hall belted out an intense heat. We had to leave the windows open in January! Overall I would certainly stay again and recommend but it was nothing exceptional - hence the average review.
