Sofitel lives up to name-brand standard
Stayed here for a business conference. Location is wonderful for shopping Michigan Ave Magnificent Mile but will obviously lack a lake or river view. Nonetheless, the service at Sofitel is impeccable. It was raining a couple of days of my stay and the hotel has bins of long umbrellas at the lobby exit. The bellman and hotel check-in/check-out are wonderful. Beds - very soft and clean. Extremely comfortable with plentiful down pillows.Bose stereo system and nice touch, but I don't think it could accommodate my iPhone which is too bad (or at least it wasn't as simple to figure out as the iHome systems found in other hotels).Bathroom is the Sofitel special with a soaking tub and a separate stand alone shower. Just think -- how often do you really see that separated. It's lovely. Shampoos and bathroom amenities nothing special. But the bathroom has a magnification mirror, good lighting, and ample under sink storage. Plenty of outlets throughout the room. We called for a coffee maker in the room and they brought up a single-serve Keurig with mugs and to go cups. Bellman are available for hailing taxis. Except for Monday, June 3rd...don't know why but at 8:00 am, there was no one hailing taxis and a hotel worker (manager maybe?) told us "you may want to walk a few blocks down, there have been no taxis for 20 minutes." I was part of the big conference that always consumes taxis and the city this part of the year but that was a surprising comment. I walked down to Dearborn street and saw plenty of cabs. Later, they told me b/c Dearborn is north of the hotel district so of course it would be easier there...okay...Sofitel lives up to its reputation and is European elegance without arrogance. Would I stay here again? Mais oui!

Great place to stay
My husband had a conference here and we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Parking really no more expensive than other hotels. Early check in without hassles Service great and free wifi first day. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Bed was great. Location ideal. Will definately be back

Best sleep of your life!
I LOVE Chicago, and this is currently my fave spot to stay. The location is perfect - easy walking distance to all the touristy places you want to see. The lounge downstairs is great for evening cocktails. My absolute FAVE reason for staying at this hotel is the beds -- they are uber comfy, so comfy in fact, that the next time I'm in the market for a mattress I'm going to find out what they use here. I like staying in one of the upper level floors (we stayed on 31 most recently) due to the great city views. Perfect place for business or for fun! Rooms weren't as small as some that I've seen in the area, so I was pleasantly surprised. When I head back this summer, I'll be staying here again!

Beauty is only skin deep-
Hotel is stunning however the beauty cannot comensate for the absolute lack of customer service. From Front Desk to the Accounting department, every person I had to speak with was border line rude and condensending. Just kept repeating their company line about policy. No accomodation, no understanding and absolutely no apology for what was THEIR error.Great place to stay if you don't have any issues. Beauty is only skin deep at this hotel. Buyer beware!

Excellent Location
Stayed four nights at the end of May. Was booked into a junior suite, upon check in was upgraded to a prestige suite. Also given 2 free drink tickets for any drinks in the bar or restaurant. Check in was swift and pleasant. Room was very large and very clean. On the 12th floor and very quiet. Only problem in the room was that the ac was not working very well. One phone call and soon the room was colder than a fridge which was good as it was very humid and hot outside. No complaints at all about the room, cleaned very well daily, quiet, no real noise from outside due to location. The hotel is on a quiet street 2 blocks off Michigan Ave. Close enough that wihtin 2 minutes you are near the action but far off enough that you don't have to listen to the cars and noise from Michigan Avenue. Was very easy to find taxis, there is a stand just beside the hotel and we never had to wait more than a few minutes to get a taxi. Le Bar was very nice, quiet and not very busy but great staff and great (strong) drinks even when you used the free tickets. Overall, had no complaints with the Sofitel. Have been here once before and will be back every time I am back in Chicago!
