Very average hotel
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on the first leg of my round the world trip. I got the impression that the place had been built as apartments and then converted into a Hotel? My room (and I know others were the same as I stayed with a group) had a large kitchen which was useful. The room was clean, but the airconditioning didn't work and there was no shower curtain or screen so the bathroom flooded. It was very warm when we stayed so the staff lent us a fan but this didn't help much. Opening a window made the room very noisy as it's on a main road. On the plus side breakfast was good and could be taken outside on the terrace. They don't have a restaurant but there are plenty within walking distance, though we were uneasy about walking back alone after dark (though we had no trouble). There is a secure underground car park.

Just an Average Place.....
I have been to Budapest many times in transit back to the US from EU...this time I decided not to stay with one of "Big Name" expensive hotels and stay with a more local hotel at 1/2 the price. Well, you get what you pay for. First, I walked from the train station to the hotel which is about 30 minutes (I wanted to see the city). Well, the hotel is located in the VIII District, which is a VERY rough part of town. My Hungarian friends we very upset that I chose this area and told me to be careful. I see why! People drinking on the streets, thugs hanging out on corners, and just an all around rough neighborhood. But, when I did find the hotel, I noticed that it was actually on the "edge" of the bad part and not in the middle of it. So, that made me feel a little better. The hotel itself I was pretty happy with. the room was LARGE for EU standards. Had very basic things BUT, it was large. I paid around 35¿¿¿ a night so I was expecting a DUMB but that is NOT what I got. I found the room to also be quite clean, with hardwood floors, a frig, a stove and a kitchenette, despite there were not dishes to actually cook with. LOL The shower was rusty and I didn't like that.Lets talk about the "free" WIFI. It is great and super fast, WHEN IT IS WORKING! In 3 days, the internet was down 80% of the time which made it very hard for me to work. In fact, I am using my smartphone internet hotspot to write this review because, it is down yet again.The staff was great. Helped me with everything I needed. I would recommend the hotel for maybe a group of guys traveling through EU together and don't care about the neighborhood. I don't know about families and couples.I rate the place a 3 JUST because the room was acceptable, the price was AMAZING, and the customer service was great. No internet (or one that hardly works) and the neighborhood is a big deal for me...so I had to take off for that.

A DISGRACE TO ALL 4 STAR HOTELS
I have stayed in many hotels, 4 star and 5 star hotels, but I am extremely disappointed with the Casa Sol Hotel booking. This hotel barely meets the standards of a 3 star hotel. The room was extremely dirty, it was obvious it had not been cleaned before my arrival. The lamp and air conditioning were broken. The chair provided broke while I was sitting on it, one of the legs completely broke off ( I am 70kg ). The paint was peeling off the walls and the room had not been well kept; the walls had deep scratches, the curtains were broken ¿¿¿ they did not cover the window, there was dust sitting everywhere along with hair. This is particularly a problem because my wife, who accompanied me for this work related trip, is extremely sensitive to dust and her allergies flared up very badly as a result. Everything that would be considered standard in a hotel was a problem at Casa Sol. They did not have toothpaste, they did not have a kettle for tea/coffee, it took over 1 hour for them to provide an iron / ironing board as they only have one for the whole hotel. The restaurant provided by the hotel was only a bar serving breakfast, they did not serve lunch or dinner as Casa Sol is not capable of providing such services. I would never recommend anyone looking for a 4 star hotel to stay at Casa Sol, their services are barely 3 stars ¿¿¿ if that. On top of this all, the hotel is located in an extremely dangerous part of the city - as mentioned by locals, and it is not difficult to see given the neighborhood we were situated. We were told not to walk around once the sun had set, and to only take a taxi too and from the hotel

Agreat location if staying in the city proper is not important
The area is not the best part of the town, but only a few minutes from the heart of Budapest., a city that is really one of the best I have seen. The people are nice, but they were not happy about the price which they had posted on Trip Advisor. They honored the price and the advertised amenities such as the free parking, but did not want any part of it. They tried to charge for the parking. I had my paperwork and had to argue to get what was advertised. The breakfast was good.
