Great hotel and amazing staff!!!
We booked a couple of nights away in Brighton through 'Blink bookings'. Never ever book through Blink Bookings!! We were booked to go to the Hilton Hotel but after taking our money for the booking they then rang me to tell the Hilton was fully booked and they will be booking us in at the Royal York instead. We weren't too bothered at this stage until we turned up at the Royal York at 11pm and they had no reservation for us as they had told Blink booking that they were full!We couldn't get hold of Blink booking even on their 24/7 helpline!!!Luckily Penny the receptionist and Peter the general manager at the Royal York were fantastic! They told us there had been a cancellation in one of the rooms and that we could stay that night and Peter would personally try and sort something out for the Saturday night as it was bank holiday weekend and everywhere seemed full.He managed to sort out two different beautiful four poster bedrooms for us to stay in on the Friday and Saturday night, we did worry a little that we would have to pay a lot extra due to the upgrade but Peter even contacted Blink bookings for us and sorted it all out with them so we didn't have to pay any extra and we could relax and enjoy our weekend away!We had such a good weekend thanks to Peter and Penny, the hotel was great and I don't think you could find a better location, it's about 50m anyway for the Pier and a two minute walk to the shops.

Great room nice venue
Our stay was is the Queen Adelaide one if the hotels larger rooms. This nicely decorated hotel is on a busy junction opp a park (oneside) so be prepared for a little noise during the festival/concert season but it is a busy town so should be expected. The room was great with a very large confortable bed with a med sized bath/shower room.Very professional staff working on a busy reception-only downside was parking quite some distance away and very poor continental breakfast & cramped eating area:but still worth a stay for its character

A great choice for Location
I stayed here at the weekend after we were seeing Mickey Flannagan at the Brighton Centre. I had called up before to request a particular room and the gent on the phone was very helpful . I found all staff very pleasant and helpful apart from one lady as i checked in who was a little grumpy but nothing Major and the girl who took over from here was very sweet and helpful when i asked a few questions. The guy on my check out even asked if we wanted our bags kept at reception whilst we looked round Brighton which was a nice touch!!The hotel looks very shabby from the outside but inside is really lovely. Its kind of old meets new and its shabby chic in a postive way rather than a negative. New Decor with vintage furniture and ornamnets. The bar and the corridors look like they have been restored and modernised to a high standard and our room 214, was huge with a big roll top bath by the window and with an adjoining room with a sofa bed set up.I was very happy with room although it did overlook the main road so was fairly noisy. I had read about this on trip advsior so i bought ear plugs and it was fine, curtains are amazing proper blackout ones and i didnt hear any other noise from rooms either side but despite this i only managed 2 hours sleep and was shattered the next day. This was due to the person in the room above who was strangely appeared to be walking round and round all night. Even if i got up about 100 times in the night the floor would not of creaked as much as it constatly did above , it was very odd , so due to this it was a bit of nightmare night and i had no sleep. God knows what they were doing!! This place has the best location. You turn right and you have the seafront, less than 1 mins walk , you turn left and your in the lanes also in under a miniute, and the Brightin centre was an 8 min walk. Parking is an issue in Brigton its very expnesive, but we parked in the lanes carpark , next to the thistle , it was ¿¿23 for about 28 hours but was very secure and a 3 min walk from the hotel.I cant comment on the breakfast as i was so tired i didnt attempt to get out of bed before 10am.I would def stay here again if i was in brighton, it was a nice hotel with very helpful staff and the location is spot on.I had previously booked the premier inn, but the cost here is such good value for what you are getting i changed my choice!!

Shame to see it like this...
Having last stayed at this hotel 5 years ago for my wedding, I was excited to visit again. I was somewhat apprehensive at the prices as they seemed very low for brighton, and in respect of what we had paid 5 years ago ( more than twice the price ). In essence this hotel was fully refurbished about 5/6 years ago to a very high standard, and I would guess has changed owners for ones who can't / won't keep things to standard. The basics are the same, very lovely furnishings but worn, tired and some real basics lacking such as a functional shower, and working lights. Also the restaurant, which was lovely, is no longer operational. A real shame. Was nice to stay for old times sake but a pity to see what had become of this once wonderful hotel.
