Very friendly and great value.
I was passing through Ballina on business and stayed here. After a warm welcome I was shown to my room and was very pleased with the standard of cleanliness and had a lovely meal that night, followed by a good night's sleep. Overall I was very satisfied and would recomend it to anyone who is passing through. It offers value.

Hands on Family run, Family Oriented hotel. Definitely recommend it as a place to explore the West !
We have stayed at the Downhill Inn several times with our kids while exploring Mayo and visiting close friends in Ballina. The welcome is always warm , the owners are great hosts , always helpful friendly and very knowledgeable. The rooms are comfortable and were toasty warm when we last stayed on a particularly cold night ! The lovely girl at reception sorted us out with adjacent rooms and gave the kids the wifi code. With the kids safely tucked in bed , we enjoyed the company of John as owner and host at the bar advising us on how to plan our activities for the following day and over breakfast we met Johns wife Nicola who was quietly overseeing operations and getting to know all the guests. We were impressed with the easy thoughtfulness of the owners who really are hands on and determined to do all in their power to make sure you have a memorable good time in their hotel. It is the simple little touches which differentiates this hotel from many other impersonal chains ! Definitely recommend it and look forward to next visit ! Liam

Fantastic friendly and fabulous visit to Mayo thanks to the Downhill Inn
Stayed in the hotel last week with my husband and 4 children. On arrival there was no fuss or trouble the receptionist organised an interconnecting room for us which was super,the rooms were in great condition clean and warm!We were served a beautiful dinner both nights if our stay the menu catered for both young children and adults . The service for breakfast and dinner was fantastic.We had a delicious full Irish breakfast before we headed off to entertain the children with fun activities beach walks crazy golf which were all near by.The hotel provided a child minding service for us the second night of our stay.In general the hotel had a great warm welcoming atmosphere and I will defiantly go back again!!

Great base for visiting the west
Packed the bags and headed for the west over Easter, arrived feeling wrecked with three mutinous kids. Hotel staff very welcoming to us all and very child friendly as we had a reviving drink at the bar.Food great with a particularly good breakfast that set us all up for exploring the area each day. Great advise from the reception on what to do with the kids. Enniscrone for the golf for us and the kids tried horse-riding and surfing. Sea-weed baths for us to relax. Full on few days but when we got back to the hotel loads of room to un- wind and relax feeling no pressure. Very well priced & came away feeling very refreshed looking forward to our next trip to the west. Thanks a mill to all.

Very hotel for business reps in the west
Got a good deal while passing Ballina, great hotel on the sligo Road. Was treated very well by young receptionist, she gave me a good rate. They didn't have the kitchen open that night but she sent me to an amazing local restaurant market kitchen which was 5 mins down the road. Their sister hotel not far has the pool/gym. Slept very well,and they cooked me a breakfast in the morning.
