I attended 2 days training course at this Hotel a week or so ago, and I must say I got quite a shock! I didn't realise how much the establishment has grown recently... I remember La-Mon when it was little more than a house, but now it has bedrooms (and then some more), a fitness suite and a conference suite (each with beautiful meeting areas and separate entrances).I can understand some people may feel that La Mon is too far to travel for a meeting conference or a larger Event, but really - believe me, that's definitely not the case - it's located 15 minutes maximum from Belfast city centre, right out in the country - with ample (free) car parking spaces - so that's an advantage over many of the city venues!Regretfully our training did not include an overnight stay (though one could argue that wouldn't be necessary for the attendees from Carryduff -never-the- less I for one would have enjoyed the relaxation and luxury of a wee break)! I'm sure those travelling from Magherafelt and further afield would have been delighted, though they did assure me that the journey hadn't been as bad as they anticipated.Over the past 10-12 years or so I'm lucky enough to have sampled Sunday lunch; mid week bar meals (evening) and several wedding receptions all courtesy of La-Mon, but until 2013 I had never been a delegate at a training session / conference. It seems that every time I return t this Hotel another part has been added to the building! Not that any addition takes away from the overall impression of the building, in fact I would suggest that the hotel has been enhanced by each one! Carefully thought out and planned extensions have ensured that the landscape has not been destroyed and that those lucky enough to be guests at the hotel benefit from every aspect and outlook.I only realised that the Hotel comprises of 12 Purpose Built Conference Rooms, Syndicate Rooms and a series of Breakout areas as a result of my recent visit.All 8 delegates enjoyed the real fire (in the centre of the foyer area), and the huge windows also meant that we could also enjoy the sun shining in and the lovely views of the fields nearby! We were happy to partake our welcome/ arrival refreshments, mid morning and afternoon breaks in the foyer - and I must say, the set up did encourage us to mingle and do some networking - which added to the overall pleasure of the 2 days.Croissants, scones, shortbread were all on offer at various times, and our lunch order was taken mid morning which meant we had little time to wait for it being served.Lunch consisted of 3 courses and was served to us in the lounge bar area, where tables had been pushed together to enable us all to sit in our group. Meal times were most enjoyable, and it was quite easy to notice that on day 2 the gammon became the most popular choice (possibly because it was served on mash and didn't look quite as big as the other dishes on offer). I imagine the common choice was entirely due to the overwhelming portion sizes which we climbed our way over on day 1! The fish, prawns, salads and burgers where all more than lovely, but a little too much too handle considering we were spending the majority of our time sitting , so as previously mentioned we learnt our lesson and the 2nd day many also refused desert (quite simply because there was little room left in our stomachs)!So, as you can tell we had no complaints about food / refreshments - and everyone was in total agreement that we couldn't have been better pleased elsewhere.There is a variety of meeting room all different sizes & it's my understanding that there is a possibility of accommodating capacity of 10 to 1000 and delegates within the conference centre. Whilst the room we occupied was airy and spacious there were several negative comments about a potentially poor air conditioning system - some attendees felt that one side of our room was cold / the other warm -so perhaps this is something which would benefit from a little investigation?Never the

Stayed here for one night surprise form my Hubby!Have stayed before but not as good this time around.We were allocated room 1 on ground floor.Room was fairly clean but for 4 star could have been better.No towels at all in room had to ask(waiting on them being sent from laundry) felt should have been told this at reception when booking In.Room tired furniture needs updated,also dirt on base of bed.Cobwebs noted and room quite dark.The worst thing was little sleep.Around 2am we were woken by children screaming and adults having conversation outside our room.This went on until after 3 am very inconsiderate!Breakfast was good. on checking out we were not asked how did we enjoy our stay very disappointing I won't rush back!

Stayed here for an annual conference and could not be more pleased, the food was the highest quality and served piping hot and promptly. The carvery is not to be missed! Rooms are glorious, light and airy, spacious and all the utilities you need!This was my first time there and I'd love to go back! Beautiful hotel and grounds are just fabulous! really do not have a bad word to say about it, staff where friendly and helpful and the owner was on site and never failed to say hello! wonderful experience!!

Stayed in one of the suites which had a really interesting curved design. Bathroom was average but the shower was excellent. Breakfast was average- why do so few places get the buffet right as just about everything was dried out being under the lamps? A couple of events on at the hotel that weekend so there were a wide variety of people in. Bar was so full of well boozed people on the night that we had to retreat to the room with a bottle of wine.

My wife and I stayed at the La Mon hotel for 5 days from April 8th on a deal with Stena Line. The hotel staff were very welcoming and the bedroom large and comfortable with a 7 ft. bed. We ate in the hotel every night in either the bistro or the main restaurant and the food was excellent. The hotel Managing Director Mr Brady was very hands-on and greeted guests regularly without being intrusive. The hotel is located not far from Belfast and is also popular with business guests. If I had a small criticism, it would be the hotel's lack of a lounge bar which I am sure would be an asset. Overall, a very good stay.
