Excellent stay
We stayed at the clarendon for 2 nights and have to say that we found this hotel to be excellent. I did ask for a larger room on arrival and was given one immediately and they were so apologetic that I had been unhappy with the first room offered. We did not have breakfast as it was extremely overpriced but there are lots of places nearby to get an good breakfast at a very competitive price. Would definitely use this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Great location...would consider staying again
We recently stayed at the Clarendon for one night as we stayed in London to watch a west end show ('Warhorse' - you must see it!)This hotel was a great location for the West End and Oxford Street shopping! Check-in was smooth and we had a very good room - yes, the decor is a little dated but the room (and the hotel generally) was clean with everything you needed (including safe, iron and ironing board and tea/coffee making facilities). The room was a lot bigger than we expected which was a bonus...the bathroom was also a very good size (and the shower was nice and powerful too). The only slight gripe about the room was the TV which operated on a very strange system where you had to keep going back to the main menu everytime you want to change the channel - this didn't bother us too much as we were out most of the time but a little frustrating if you wanted the TV on whilst getting ready. The bed was comfortable.The continental breakfast was ok although nothing to write home about! The room was very cramped and the tables were practically on top of each other...we had to keep pushing the table to one side so one of us could get in and out. The staff were attentive and we were served tea/coffee and toast straightaway - they also cleared the tables promptly. The breakfast buffet was ok - there were some good continental options but it was small and in one corner of the room which meant you often had to wait to get anywhere near it. The continental breakfast was included in our room rate but you could have paid extra for a full english (we didn't have this so can't comment on what that was like).Check out again was smooth and they kept our suitcase for us to collect later in the day which was a bonus.We were not exactly 'wowed' by The Clarendon, but we didn't expect to be. The hotel definitely met our expectations and we would consider staying here again...primarily because of the great location!

Excellent location and value
We've previously stayed in the Portland, sister hotel to the Clarendon on the same quiet road. The decor and comfort was equally good although our room was smaller than we had enjoyed at the Portland. Continental breakfast selection was more than adequate although an English breakfast option was expensive. As with the Portland the staff were very friendly and helpful. We've booked again for an October visit to London.

Excellent service and location
We recently stayed at this hotel and we very happy with the service from the staff and the location. We were able to walk to Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square and down to the Thames. We would defiantly stay there again .

Good trip spoilt by unhelpful receptionist
We had booked two double rooms here to treat my mother for her 60th birthday and arrived with our luggage in the morning and did all the admin before going off for the day, we were advised that check in was at 3pm. We returned at 5.15pm intending to get ready as we were going out for cocktails at Clairdges at 6pm. The receptionist, Agnes, advised one of our rooms was not ready, we expressed our dissatisfaction and she failed to even apologise but just smirked at us. In the end we requested to speak to her manager and lo and behold the room was ready almost immediately. I requested that she book us a taxi to Claridges at 6.15pm and we went to get ready, on returning to reception at the allotted time, she had failed to book us a taxi and again smirked when we noted our displeasure, another staff member went out and hailed us a taxi. All other staff were courteous and helpful but Agnes was non communicative and rude. The rooms were large and clean and if it hadn't been for her I would be providing a much better review.
