You get what you pay for
We are currently staying here at the Jardin del mar for a week. The hotel is dated yes but the location is excellent if you want a quiet break. I'm here with my 2 boys aged 12 and 6 and apart from the pool there isn't really anything else for them to do so we've been rock pooling in the small cove next to the hotel. It's beautiful here when the sun is shining.I expected the hotel to be busier but it only seems half full we've got a room on the 5th floor which has got a fabulous sea view and yes I paid the extra for this.The room is a bit basic but very clean with a couple of English channels on the TV . The housekeeping staff are lovely especially one of the maids named Loli she can't do enough for you and very friendly. The bar/waiting staff are great too. The reception staff are all rude and horrible so don't even bother. Food is ok , not the best food I've had in a hotel but its only 3 star and as I said you do get what you pay for.The pool area is great and the pool bar do nice food at lunchtimes but the drinks are a rip off so be warned.We actually live on the costa blanca near Benidorm and I wanted a quick break somewhere different so chose Mallorca and we've not been disappointed. Hire a car and explore because there are some gorgeous places to visit.Avoid Magaluf at all costs!! Unless you are on a stag do or hen do

Just ok
Check in/out quick,but nobody else waiting. Heating system worked in the room,which was useful as it went chilly in the evenings.Beds firm mattress not to my taste, small balcony, small living room.We had a kettle,but anything else for the kitchen you had to pay extra for.Decor a bit dated, painted wood chip, but clean. BBC1 and 2 the English channels.Noted in Santa Ponsa that the following had outside refurb jobs done, The Bahia del Sol,Portafino and the Deya.

First impressions
Stayed in June of last year. Had a good time and decided to go back. What a difference a year makes! My wife, my 2 year old and I arrived in the evening. The guy at reception was as arrogant as you could get. He actually ignored me during check in to tend to some couple who just appeared from the street and then started to rant about about the poor weather as if I had started the discussion. He gave me a room next to the lift which I asked to be moved due to the fact I had a child and the people traffic would affect her sleep. This, of course, could not be accomodated under any circumstance. He informed me that the hotel was full even though I witnesssed empty rooms the following day. The room was a side view (in the back). It was obvious they placed any parties there as there was a lot of noise for the duration in which the management were slow to intervene. We had ants last year but avoided them this time around and I found the rooms to be very clean and well maintained. Warning! 12 months on and you now have to pay for WIFI access. 24¿¿¿ per week per device! The breakfast is average and the coffee from the machine is terrible but one of the waiters there could not be more helpful. Shame more of the staff could not have the same smile and helpful attitude. Shame as we had such a lovely stay last year.

Decent hotel, great value for short break.
Firstly we only stayed 4 nights at the end of April at a cost of ¿¿90 ! so we can't complain at what we got for our money.Hotel appeared busy for time of year and seems a popular destination and can see why its on a great location with plenty around it i.e. shops & bars.Room (326) had the much talked about car park view but for what we paid we weren't about to moan, bathroom is massive bedroom a decent size and living area good as well, admittedly kitchen area is tiny but adequate.Only slight downside is you have to rent things like toaster & kettle etc.Room had aircon which also provides heat which came in handy as weather wasn't great a couple if days.Hotel offers wifi at a cost based on days or single day, there are 3 computers in reception that charge ¿¿¿1 for 10 minutes ¿¿¿20 for 20 minutes Internet access if need to check flights etc.Despite reviews to contrary we found the 3 different reception staff more than helpful when asking about buses, car parking & petrol station.Admittedly room could do with updating but we could see the hotels appeal and why its so popular we had a good stay and found it superb value.its a great base for exploring the island & Santa Ponsa.

lovely hotel not very friendly
Id booked this holiday as a surprise for my hubby and paid extra for sea view so when we got there we had to lean over balcony to actually see the sea! When i asked at reception the fella said oh your lucky your not lower down, you have to pay for better view, so i explained to him i had but was told it was fully booked and to come back on the tues, and this was sunday. Kitchen was very basic for self catering and had to end up hiring a kettle which was full of lime scale and very little utensils and beds were very uncomfortable, but do have to say it was very clean and the maids were spotless. it was very quiet and the hotel bar was empty with no music or anything on, was a relaxing week without any sun
