Stay away from this Hotel at all cost!
My family and I stayed in this hotel because it had minimal bad reviews from booking.com. My mistake was not to take a look at Tripadvisor. Where do I start? This is probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed on. You have all heard about the location which is awful, some sketchy characters in the vicinity, security concerns obviously because of the locked front entrance and non-smoking rooms smelling like they were smoked at for a century. But that's not the main point, this review tells a story of how awful the front desk attendants were. I am pertaining to the night shift attendants, they were both males. Example no. 1: There is only one attendant in the early evening shift. I was transferring from a room which was too hot to a new room, I forgot my infants baby food in the refrigerator of the former room. I called the reception and explained what happened and that it was time for my infant to eat. He kept on placing me on hold for as long as 15 minutes and then when he came back on the phone, he uttered something in french and placed me on hold again. So I decided to go down and then I found out that he was juggling too many tasks, Ok this is forgivable. But then it was my time to be serviced but suddenly some customers arrived and he called them first and attended to them. I asked my self, has this guy learned about the concept of prioritization? To cut the story short, I was able to get a key and get my baby food. Now when we got into the new room, it smelled like smoke. The room looks nice in the picture but please note the smell, the cleanliness is not there. So I discovered that my television is broke (they boast about free movies upon checkin) but most f the time it does not work. I had to call the reception again and I was shocked that he uttered the same spiel in French and placed me on hold.Example no. 2: I called the reception one early morning to ask for directions going to Disneyland. He said that if I came downstairs he can show me via the map. So I went and then I saw the breakfast was ready, so I ask the reception if I could get some bread. He said no you can't, have you paid for your breakfast? (in a very rude, condescending manner). I said yes, I did, check my room number. So I decided to get a bun and went back to the reception with a plate on my hand. Then this guy said, don't eat here in the reception you can eat in the tables. I said to him, but I am not eating, I just had a bun on a plate on your reception table. Then he said no eating here. So I asked him, why are you being Unfriendly? He said he does not understand (which I know he does because he can speak English). So I said, so can you direct me how to go to disneyland. Then he grabbed a map and threw the map in front of me and uttered something in french again. So I asked where is my direction, he said, go ask my other colleagues in the next shift, I don't want to talk to you. This is clearly the worst run restaurant and I dunno Jerome Sanchez, yes you the director, where you hire these unprofessional, appalling and unfriendly receptionists? As if they were hired because they were big men and probably can also double hat as a bouncer in case some gangsters enter the hotel? Yeah that's how they were, intimidating, unfriendly and they don't fit the job.For all people wanting to check this hotel for the nice rates (where that was a mistake for me), please do not even consider as it is a death trap! Not only can you find better hotels with close proximity to the usual tourist destinations in Paris, but also more friendly staff. Booking.com reviews are also biased and I think does not reflect the true sentiment of customers.I can be contacted so I can explain more of what happened.Jeremy

Decent Hotel- Terrible location
We stayed at the Suite Novotel for a long weekend in March. If using the metro, the location is awful because you have to cross over the highway to get to the hotel. The La Chapelle neighborhood was dodgy. We aked for a non smoking room, but they gave us a room that smelt of cigarette smoke and after asking to be moved we were informed that there were no other rooms available which was rather disappointing.

nice hotel in a terrible area
The hotel is part of the suite Novotel brand and as such you get a standard hotel experience. The hotel itself was comfortable and was of a layout and standard of all the suite novotel's. They are very useful for families. However, as others have posted the area is appalling. We arrived by car and were attacked by vagrants with squeegees who threatened to damage the car if we didn't pay money. We were fortunate to get away with only paying loose change before driving through chaotic traffic. A sobering experience for my two children. The area is run down and not safe to walk around in. A large corporation like Accor hotels who own the brand should do something with the local authorities to improve safety in the area but who appeared conspicuous by their absence. In conclusion, if you are travelling alone and in daylight only it would be useful for business. For families I would avoid.

Excellent hotel....ghetto location
We stayed at this hotel for three night over the weekend. The hotel itself is brilliant. Very modern, wifi, brand new/recently renovated rooms. However, it's location is in one of the (many) dodgy parts of Paris. Although its only a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro stop, walking it at night is very dodgy. We actually got a taxi one night as there was some particularly rascal locking locals on the train with us. Probably fine in the daytime, but the walk is still full of rubbish, building sites seems to be constantly being used as a toilet.Another minor thing, the tv has 40-odd channels but the only English speaking one is sky news. Having said that, the room came with a good selection of films to watch in English. If you are looking at staying here...I would spend the extra 40 or so euros and go closer to a nicer part of the city.
