The location is the reason this is cheaper than the Marriott norm
Not much to commend the immediate area but a 10 min walk and you are back in the heart of things so this is a cheap way to get close enough without paying double the price. It is a modern hotel with all the usual conveniences and a decent bar.If you get access to the Exec Lounge you get a nice view of town.I had a suite which would have been good for up to 4 with a separate lounge and kitchen. This is probably the cheapest Marriott within the M25 and it has reasonable tube links to the West End and City. a ¿¿5 cab ride to St Johns Wood and ¿¿20 to the West End.

Beware of potentially poor standards of room and food
We stayed at this hotel for four nights, starting on the 7th May 2013. It was booked through "Show and Stay" as a package with rail and theatre tickets at a total cost of ¿¿843.89 and from this I estimate that the rate including English breakfast cost us about ¿¿175/night. Given the out of town location (Kilburn) is not a very nice area and requires about 30 minutes travel time to the West End plus our concerns given below, I think that the hotel is over-rated in star quality and price and I would not recommend it.On arrival, we found the reception staff friendly and were pleased to be upgraded to a King size bed room which we were told was a good room. The room (207) was far from good, quite small and the air conditioning was not working. The fridge outer cabinet surface was hot to the touch and not cooling properly. The dressing table chair would not lift up so assume the gas tube had failed. There was a shortage of spare 13A sockets unless you have very thin arms to reach down the back of the furniture or pull the furniture out which I would not advise as a potential safety hazard. I went down to reception and asked for a fan which they said would be supplied in the next hour. Whilst I was away, someone tried to get into our room and my partner answered. We got a letter later apologising for this saying that the guest's key wallet had our room number on it. Meanwhile the fan arrived but the man said he would need to put a plug on it. He returned and pulled the furniture out to plug it in. After dinner and a show we returned to find the room no cooler and asked for a change of room. The night manager was excellent, offering two alternative rooms for us to see and we picked room 228, a double room, very spacious and on the quiet side of the hotel. He also asked us what wine we liked and supplied via room service two small bottles of chilled white wine to our liking free of charge - brilliant but our bad experience should have been completely avoidable, this should not happen. The next night after a tiring day touring around London we decided we would eat at the hotel - big mistake. We went into the bar to get a drink and look at the restaurant menu only to be told that the restaurant was being refurbished this week and only a limited menu in the bar was available. Why weren't we told about this when we checked in or early the next day? It was too late to go out to London to eat as we were tired so we ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs in the bar. It was served quickly (about 15mins) but the meatballs were tough, spaghetti hard and food was only warm. We complained and asked if we wanted an alternative but there was nothing we liked so the food was take off the bill. We paid for the bottle of wine we ordered with the meal but only drank a little as we were so hungry that we had to go across the road to eat at a noisy pub and buy more wine there.Breakfast was good overall, nice restaurant and friendly staff but over-priced. Food quality varied over the four days, sometime bacon slightly overcooked, sometimes just right, on two days smaller sausages had tough casing and tasted a bit soapy but taste is subjective (make up your own mind) - maybe they were made by the same cook as did the meatballs?Overall then I have very mixed feelings about this hotel - I think most staff try really hard and are friendly but there is something wrong with process quality management; the variation in quality of service concerns me - this is not what I expect of a Marriott hotel and will not be staying there again or even any Marriott until I am convinced about improvements to quality.

Love the Marriott Maida Vale
We are at the Marriott Maida Vale for 5 nights and I am quite happy with this hotel. Our room (308) is spacious and extremely quiet. It is very clean and comfortable. The customer service is outstanding. The front desk personnel, in particular have been very polite, professional and accommodating. We requested a roll away bed for our daughter, who stayed in our room for a couple of nights, and it was provided immediately, no questions asked. There is a busy street in front of the hotel, and the windows do a fantastic job of eliminating almost all traffic noise. I do wish the hotel was a bit closer to the Tube. The nearest stop is Kilburn, and it is about 3 city blocks away. The hotel provides free wifi in the lobby only. I would definitely stay here again.

Marriott by Travelodge
Its not really in Maida Vale (W9 postcode), its actually in Kilburn (NW6), so why not be honest and say thats where it is; I am a platinum rewards member, but the room was as tiny as everyone elses. The excutive lounge is hidden on the 7th floor with no sign on the door, and the food offerings were identical every night (not bad salads though). Marriott bed as good as ever, but the main criticism is the lack of shaver point in the bathroom. Isnt this a standard feature of every hotel bathroom in the world? But the big cheek of it is that the hotel tries to sell you adapters for ¿¿5 each - unbelievable! Other points to note, 10min walk to Kilburn Park station (not maida vale, note), the gym is actually a public health club free to guests, so is full of bouncers warming up for their night shift. In summary, its a travelodge with marriott badge, but ok for tourists and cheap business people.

Does the job with a bit of charm
Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. We arrived a bit before the check-in time and the receptionist regretted that all she could offer us then was a queen size room. We were in a rush and accepted but this was fine - the room was bright, very clean and certainly big enough. We slept well after we got back from the reception. Everything in the room worked and I'd happily stay there again. The concierge got us a taxi promptly and courteously. A couple of pointers - on-street parking in legal areas is free at weekends. This was a Godsend. Their breakfasts are outrageously expensive - a complete rip-off - so bring your own. Internet access is also expensive - BT's public WiFi at ¿¿5 a day is much cheaper, or, if you have a 3G-enabled tablet, use that. Shop around for the best price. I managed to get the room for ¿¿118 (cheap for this part of London), instead of the general rate of ¿¿199 offered by most sites and the hotel itself. Oh, and you get access to a good pool and gym next door. If I stay again, I plan to take advantage of that.
