Could do better
We spent 2 nights here for a wedding. We arrived on the Friday and although the decor is a little tired the hotel was clean and friendly. The family room was huge with ample room for 4. As there was about 20 of us we decided to dine together in the hotel restaurant at 8.30pm, at this point we were the only people in the restaurant in 2 tables of 10 with ample staff. We asked for water for the tables and 1 jug per table was supplied after about 40 mins. The food is excellent and the waiting staff were very polite though some training and organization is required as service was poor. The following day at the wedding meal at a table for 8 we had 2 vegetarians which had been flagged with the hotel prior to the day one received their meal at the same time as everyone else however we asked three different waiters for the other vegetarian meal which only appeared when the function manager was asked, by this time every other guest had finished the main course. Again the waiting staff require training. The food again however was delicious. It was also very expensive for a three star and we have stayed in much better hotels for much less.

Overpriced and disappointing
We stayed at the Buchanan arms last night and I have to say that we were really disappointed. It was booked as a Birthday treat for my husband and ¿¿130 was paid for B &B. The room was very dated, not what we were expecting for the price. Have stayed in much nicer hotels with better facilities for less than 1/2 that price. Breakfast this morning was dreadful. We gave up waiting for the cooked breakfast and just had toast and a croissant instead. There was a wedding party in and it was very busy but that is really no excuse. We did book into the haven spa yesterday for the Moroccan spa treatments which was really good, very relaxing. Pool facilities were ok but here were only four other people in the pool so I think it would be quite a different experience had it been busier as the sauna and steam room are very small. I would go back to the Haven Spa but won't be back to stay at the hotel.

Disappointing hotel in a lovely place
Stayed for one night, in a double room for B&B, on our way further north. I felt the hotel had a very shabby air about it, and the room was not particularly clean either. The door to our room did not meet the floor at the bottom, there was about a 1cm gap, so we could hear everyone passing our room and the corridor light shone in at night! One of the lights in our room had a broken bulb in it, which I had to take to reception to ask for a replacement. The en-suite bathroom was very tiny, and the paint was peeling in several places. The towels were very thin, scratchy and worn.At breakfast we were given a table in a corner, that was very cramped. We could not sit down without moving the table in and out! The toast was brought to us almost as soon as we sat down, but was cold and I had a feeling it was recycled from other tables' left-overs! I would have liked hot toast, after I'd had my cereal etc! The only positive thing I can say about this hotel was that the staff on reception were friendly and efficient on checking in and out. Such a shame as Drymen is a lovely little place.

Best nights sleep ever
My stay here made me feel realy fresh after a great nights sleep the bed and pillows were so comfy .The staff were so nice to every one the food in the resturaunt was realy good some nice wine to well sampled and there is a nice we village in drymen and some excellent walks to go and some realy good veiws to see and nice photos to take good wild life
