Slightly contraversail
My boyfriend and I were staying at the Plaza for a private party, we had stayed here numerous times before and were always given a newly refurbished room. We paid 67.30 and were given an old room which was poorly decorated but a large room, it was a smoking room even though we never asked for one.After a shower my boyfriend said the towels were dirty and slightly smelly, I then discovered that the bin had not been changed and was fully of used dirty condoms and cigarette butts. Having spoken to the manager we were escorted to a newly refurbished, spotlessly clean room! Overall our stay was nice and the staff were friendly but there was no way I staying in that room.

First Class
So glad I chose this hotel- it was first class. It is a five-minute walk, through the large shopping centre, from the luas (tram terminus) with a regular service into Dublin centre. The trip takes 25/30 minutes.All the hotel staff were friendly, knowledgable and very efficient. The large bedroom was very clean, well kept and well equipped, as was the bathroom, which had soaps and shampoo provided. Breakfast (included in my deal) was buffet-style, with everything you could possibly want. Full Irish cooked selection, cold meats, cheeses, rolls, croissants and fresh fruit. There was also a cafe, bar and restaurant in the hotel and it's own pub next door.Not sure about recommending for families with young children as the menus could be considered a bit pricey and there didn't seem to be any specific offerings for younger appetites. My only [minor] moan, which I have with many establishments, is the constant, mind-numbing, piped 'muzak' in public areas. It really doesn't add anything.All in all, a very pleasant 5-night stay and I would certainly stay here again.

Wow, fab hotel, only disadvantage is that it was a tad too far from Dublin centre. However, the receptionist soon called us taxi & 7 of us piled in for the 40 minute journey into centre.Back to the hotel, lovely room huge in fact, with wetroom, & all I needed. It is worth asking for a wetroom if you need it as there is plenty of room for access. Beds very comfy, & my room in particular had 3 large windows as I had a corner room on 2nd floor. Staff great & food excellentThe bar was smashing too.

Lovely Modern Hotel
We were heading to Donegal but stopped off for a night each way in The Plaza Hotel.My Husband and I thought it a lovely place to stay. The rooms were spacious, well equipped with all the usual toiletries. Plus a Trouser Press, chairs to sit on (absent in some hotels). Very comfortable beds. Lots of Tea and Coffee.The meals were really good. Waitresses brilliant.All in all two very well spent nights.

Don't overlook this hotel
A place of contrasts; At first glance it looks pretty dated but look further & there's good value to be had. First it's pleasantly warm everywhere in the hotel, second the rooms, whilst not the last word in luxury, are clean & tidy with excellent bathroom. Breakfast is good & cheap compared to similar chain hotels. Finally the adjoining bar (Grumpy McClafferty's) serves great Guinness and good wholesome food. The Fish & Chips are just like home made :-P The location probably works against it as it's well out on the edge of the city but tha just makes it easy to get around. Not sure I'd choose to bring family but as a business stay it really works well.
