Enjoyable stay
We stayed here at start of may for a wedding. At least 20 of us stayed and we got a good price for 2 nights plus evening meal. When we got there someone noticed that the same deal was advertised for cheaper on a website and the receptionist had no problem giving the cheaper price. The day of the wedding it was excellent. Can't complain about anything. The service at the wedding dinner was excellent. No waiting around nice and free flowing. Dinner was gorgeous. I stayed in a suite and it was perfect. The only thing about it was the heat in the room. It was very warm and I couldn't seem to get it cooler even after turning off the heat. Some may say this is a good thing but not something I like.The only thing negative I would say about finnstown is the bar food I think is very over priced and the bar man was very ignorant the next day. We got the impression that once you wernt having a wedding that day they didn't want to know you. The first morning the breakfast was lovely, fresh and hot. Second morning it was horrible, dry and berly warm. Overall I did enjoy my stay and if I had of went home the first morning after the wedding I would have said it was 100% so I would recommend to a friend

Amazing building and grounds
We attended a wedding here, it's very popular for weddings because of the stunning building and grounds. The history of this hotel is interesting and you can feel it all around the hotel. The main issue we had was on arrival we had booked three rooms for our party and were told that only one room was booked and there must have been a mistake made, luckily there was another room available and the rest of our party piled in together with camp beds and at least had somewhere to sleep. I'd recommend making them read out your booking details on phone just to be sure. The rooms were spacious and the beds are so comfortable, we had breakfast delivered to our room, it was a standard breakfast spread. The wedding meal was delicious the salmon was amazing. There are peacocks on the grounds, i heard them but didn't see them. Loads of places to take photos. There is a pool but it's very small and there's a big enough gym, there are also tennis courts. The hotel is on it's own grounds with not much around it unless you drive. It's still central but you feel as if you're in the middle of the country. Overall it was a great experience and I enjoyed it and all the staff I met were really nice and helpful.

Lovely stay in Lucan
Stayed here for friends wedding in December, lovely place. Our room was in the adjacent block to the main hotel and had everything we needed. The main hotel is lovely and was decorated for Christmas so was even prettier than normal and the peacocks wandering the grounds is really nice. The bar and food is also good, they offer packages on their website which are worth a look. All in all we had a brilliant couple of days in Dublin and would go back.

For a Wedding it's Fab
Attended a wedding last year at this hotel. I've read the reviews below and see that some people are not happy... I think as a guest that had little corresponding with the hotel it is lovely. The room etc had been booked on my behalf. Therefore, I cannot comment on such reliability issues. to those below with bad experiences- sounds terrible hope you do get sorted soon. I thought the surroundings were perfect for a summers day wedding, we could overflow to the garden. The avenue is fab and the rooms are lovely and neat. The bar and tea room are great, warm fires etc in the lounge, the wedding took place in an intimate function room and the food (chose the beef) was devine. Can't fault it on my experience.... Might be tempted to go a night away here in the summer though, hopefully the standards remain high.

Bad experience, not reliable and management dont seem to care
I had a bad experience with Finnstown house hotel. The hotel was recommended to me by my sister in law who had stayed in a suite at the hotel and had a great experience. My family and I were travelling to Dublin for an over night stay just before Christmas 2012. We have 2 kids (11mths and 3 years) so we booked apartment/suite which is part of a hotel. I had a great experience when booking the hotel, the girl was so nice and explained about the suites having a separate living room/kitchen area and we both agreed they were great for a stay with kids. We were really looking forward to it as we usually stay in the city and it was great to be staying somewhere different. This is where the experience changed for the worst.On the pre-booked Saturday after travelling for 3.5 hours we arrived at Finnstown house around 6pm. We were well impressed with the drive up to the hotel and were looking forward to checking in and getting something to eat as we had two hungry and tired children. We checked in and were led out of the hotel across the drive to another building (which I thought was funny as the suites were supposed to be part of the hotel from the conversation when booking). The porter brought us up a few flights of stairs to a room (no lift baby¿¿¿s buggy had to be left downstairs )and upon entering, it was clear that it was a family room with 2 beds. I explained to him immediately that this wasn¿¿¿t what we booked so he advised me to go back to reception to check with them. When I chatted with the receptionists they informed me this was what i booked however I could describe the apartment and give the girls name who had booked it for me. Then they said there were none of the suites available and we would have to do with the family room or they had another room which was a little bigger. I decided to take a look at this room (golf chalet in a separate building to the hotel) as time was getting on and the baby was really hungry and tired. When we were brought to this room i nearly cried, as it was old, cold, smelled of damp, no proper heating and really dark (definitely looked like it should be demolished). Immediately we made a decision to ring another hotel in the city where we have stayed before on a number of occasions and got a room. When I returned to reception for the third time and informed them that due to our unhappiness with the room that we were leaving they showed no sign of concern or care for what had happened. Also they didn¿¿¿t seem to care that it was getting late and we had young children with us. On my return home i rang the hotel to speak to the manager to complain. I got to speak to a manager who said that he wasn¿¿¿t on duty that night and he would have the appropriate manager ring me back as a priority the next day. That was in December 2012 and i am still waiting for a call back. All I can say about this hotel is that I will never stay here and will not be recommending it.
