Excellent deal on Travelzoo
The service we received was very good especially during our evening meal and it was nice to have staff who were also Welsh speaking. The quality of the meal was excellent.The hotel reception area, bar and restaurant has been refurbished and is nice. Our upgraded bedroom was a bit dated but was clean and a good size. The only problem was, although we were on the 3rd floor, there was qiute a bit of traffic and street noise. To be fair to the reception staff, on checking in we were told this, and were offered an inside room, but we opted for a room with a view of the castle. This was an excellent deal and we are going again with friends

there is much more than location
on a 2 week tour of the UK and spent 1 night at the angel which is across the street from the castle.the hotel old, dirty, and lacks adequate staff. the rooms were poor,at best, and dingy.after returning from our evening at the castle 8 people from our group tried to get a drink at the bar,BUT ..no bartender. we all left.

Excellent Service and very convenient
The staff were all very helpful and the evening meal was excellent. We were given an upgraded room and I agree with other reviews the rooms do need someTLC (ie paint peeling off a wall )but overall a pleasant stay and I would recommend and stay there again.

Noisy
I came to stay at the angels for a familly wedding, when I arrived I was very pleased with the location very central. We checked in and was given our room cards, on arriving at the room it was ok a bit old fashioned but ok. As i unpacked I noticed it was very noisy I could hear cars buses and passers by like they were in the room with me, at this point I thought the window must be open. I tried to close the window but noticed the window was closed, this was going to be a pain. That night I dident sleep a wink, I could hear everything even people talking like they were in the room with me. This has to be sorted. 2 nights of this and I had to have a day off work after coming home to have a good nights sleep, other than that it was ok. On check out we were not asked how our stay was they just took the money and sent us on our way, dident even give us a card to get out the car park had to go back and get one. Good location but you need new windows!!

Tired Room
Hotel was booked by my corporate travel team, so did not know what to expect.On the positive side, a good location, pleasant staff and very nice public areas / entrance.On the less positive my room was in need of some TLC with scraped wall paper and paintwork, lighting so dingy it was hard to see my papers on the desk and the there was a large gap under the door so the corridor lighting clearly shone through when you went to bed. The desk staff also committed the cardinal sin for business travellers of forgetting my alarm call (there is no digital clock / alarm in room).Underwhelmed.
