Classic Hotel
The Melia Hotel Girona is a great classic hotel,as soon as you walk through their doors you feel welcome and comfortable,the staff are wonderful and so helpful.The reception area is complete with iced water and a coffee machine free of charge and there whenever you want it.The bedrooms are really comfortable as is bathroom,it has everything you need including kettle,tea and coffee.A mini bar if you prefer a drink in your room.The breakfast was really good the breakfast staff attended to your needs and a lady was there to cook freshly prepared food.We dined in the restaurant in the evening,because the weather wasn't at its best when we were there,we were really glad we did because it was brilliant!It was so nice to be waited on properly nothing seemed to be any trouble.When we visit Girona again we will certainly be staying there.

fine hotel
I stayed here for two nights in April 2012. It is situated in a peaceful residential area of Girona. The hotel itself is quite nice, I can't fault the d¿¿cor of the rooms or the quality of the finishings as they all seemed to be of a high quality. We arrived rather late after getting a flight from Ireland and the receptionist was extremely helpful and he even replaced the in-room kettle a couple of times after it appeared not to be working! However, there was a younger guy on check out on the day we were leaving and he was a little rude. But, I wouldn't mind that as it didn't spoil an otherwise lovely city break in Girona. The free espresso in the lobby was certainly a deciding factor in our selection of this hotel.One tip I have is to go next door to the El Corte Ingles supermarket, fill your bag up on a massive range of Spanish and Catalan foods for a fraction of the price that you would pay in the city centre.

Not the best in Girona
We chose this hotel because we got a Smartbox that was about to expire. It's a 12 minute walk from the trainstation, away from the town centre. It's not worth 4 stars.The guy at check in was great, very friendly and extremely helpful. He reccomended us his favorite restaurants and bars. Note that around the hotel there isn't really any place to go for a drink at night.Our room was very clean but old fashioned. Don't bother having dinner at the hotel (included in our smartbox) as it costed ¿¿¿16 pp and was not that good. Girone is full of charming little restaurants!Breakfast is a whole different deal though. It was one of the most complete buffets I've ever seen in a four star hotel. Cava, eggs and bacon, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, donuts, muffins, cakes,... It was really good! If you're not in Girona on business, I would recommend a hotel closer to the center.

"Very impressed"
I stayed for two nights in November while visitingthe area on business. I found this to be an excellent hotel of quality. The check-in was smooth, uncomplicated yet informative, and I was particularly pleased that the staff took time to discover if I was new to the area and then provided me with a local map and pointed out places of interest, should I have the time. The underground car-park is securely gated and a real bonus. The down side is that this hotel is located in an area which could really do with smartening up, albeit located within a few of minutes of the motorway. My room was large, very comfortable and full of those small extras that make the difference between average and quality. The bath-room was like-wise. I was very pleased.Special mention must be made of the dining hall. The staff in the morning clearly go that extra mile to produce the most impressive lay-out and choices for breakfast, sufficient I think, to satisfy all tastes. They deserve compliments.This was my first visit to Girona and I found it a wonderful place to visit. The historic old town with its many cobbled streets is full of character and a delight to wander around. Wine bars and tapas bars are in abundance. I will visit again and definately book another stay at the Hotel Melia.

Comfortable overnight stay
We stayed overnight en route to Spain. We wanted a hotel with secure parking which was difficult to find. There are security issues in Spain so we were delighted to find this very comfortable hotel within 10 minutes of the Autopiste. The signage to the hotel was good except the road configuration meant we could see it but not get to it. We ended up having to ask a pedestrian who was very helpful and pointed us in the right direction!The young lady on reception was very welcoming, our room was excellent and we had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. However the complimentary wine was not really drinkable so we left it!
