Good 4*
We visited September 2012 for a week. Hotel was well positioned, close to beach 4 minute walk, surrounded by bars and restaurants but not noisy. More of a business hotel which is reflected in the good service (can't walk around in a bikini though-got told off after visiting the beach!)Breakfast was pleasant, there was only 1 person serving coffee though one day we actually ate and left before it arrived! Nice continental breakfast.Rooms were huge and beautiful so was the bathroom with 2 sinks! Great when you're both getting ready! Only thing we were disappointed by was the pool, it needed a bit of work and was full of flies everyday-so much that we were too put off to swim, however beach is so close it didn't matter! Spa looked nice but expensive...Parking ¿¿¿20 underground we left it there the entire stay, I'm sure there will be cheaper places nearby.We would definitely stay again if we got the same deal!

Really good accomodation (both apartments and hotel)
We had booked the apartments for the week as we liked the opportunity to have our own kitchen area and more space. Also the hotel was located in the old town, not far from the sea front, therefore being in a perfect position to explore the town.The apartments were clean and spacious although we did have to request an iron and hairdryer when we arrived. The apartments are a bit further down the road from the hotel, however we were still able to use the gym and swimming pool within the hotel.We found the apartments quite noisy as they overlooked the main road, and there was a lot of noise! If it wasn't people leaving bars at late hours it was the rubbish collection van in the middle of the night! We didn't end up sleeping very well!!Towards the end of the trip there was a festival being held in the square just opposite the apartment and as we had an early morning flight we requested if there was any opportunity to swap into the hotel. The staff were fantastic and were able to move us into a hotel room, which was again large, spacious and clean and a really nice room which was so much quieter. We found the staff extremely helpful at every point, including recommendations of places to visit and would definitely stay there again if back in Alicante

Excellent second visit
We love this hotel. Upon having difficulties with our flight at Alicante airport we were left with an additional night and no accomodation. On the chance that may be able to accomodate us i called Hospes Amerigo. I should have known! Excellent customer service provided by Christian. He had a superb room ready for us (with an extra bed) within about half an hour. The room overlooked the street below and the castle above. We stayed here August 12 and have been recommending it since. the hotel is superb, excellent rooms, toiletries (korres) and a real hairdryer! not a travel one stuck on the bathroom wall. the breakfast is wonderful and even that has been improved upon slightly, as Christian explained on arrival, there is a hot option at the buffet also, all in with the price. Overall the hotel has a central location, good value for money and excellent customer service. There are plenty of options to dine out within walking distance - thats if you can force yourself out of the hotel! we will be back!! thanks again Christian.

great location
brilliant hotel in the middle of alicante old town so you are on the doorstep for great tapas plus 2 minute walk from the city beach which is great. Fabulous eating places all around so you do not need to worry about breakfast in the hotel. The hotel welcome is absolutely great and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are dark (we were in the family connecting room - and one of the rooms is facing the wall so it is very gloomy) and this is the downside but it is in the middle of the city so something has to give - you miss sitting out on a balcony though! The roof top pool is OK - the pool is very small and looks a bit aged now. The sunbeds are limited and are flat so you can't move them to sit and read. Drinks prices are expensive so you might want to stick to one only! Overall a great hotel for a city centre location.

Very good stay in Alicante at the Hospes Amerigo
We spent 3 nights at the Hospes Amerigo on a B&B basis and were very impressed with the welcome we got on arrival, and one of the reception staff showed us to two rooms that we could choose between. We chose one on the 3rd floor and we could see the marina (thus a sea view!) and the main palm lined walkway.Breakfast was good although the service could be slow as there weren't enough staff working on a couple of days. The top floor has the spa area and pool, this is a nice area to sun bathe in but it can get busy. There's a good view of Santa Barbara Castle from there too.All in all we had a good break, the staff made the difference and well done to them. Though the hotel is 5* it is looking a little jaded and in need of some TLC here and there. Another thing to bear in mind is that it can be noisy outside the hotel at night; there are some bars nearby. I took ear plugs with me and had no problems at all, my partner managed to sleep through without them.Enjoy your stay there!
