From check in to departure every thing was perfect.. fast check-in happy, friendly reception man greeting us promptly checking us in a clean comfortable room simply made us understand that " do not judge a book by its cover ". Reception staff always remenbered our names specially the indian man on the desk was exceptional in his job and most helpfull if you need any info on places to eat and drink etc. We ate in the restaurant and this was really good food, very tasty, plus the breakfast was a high-point for us with lots of choice. All I can say is it was lovely and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go here!!

Firstly, don't be put off by negative comments in other reviews. My boyfriend and I booked a 3 night stay at Menzies, Strathallan, Birmingham. It was a Friday to Monday stay. We were pleased as we got a good deal, 3 nights plus breakfast each morning and dinner on one night, all for less than ¿¿170 on laterooms. My boyfriend and I are not the most easily pleased young couple but we could hardly find fault with the entire stay. The only criticism we had was the lift, which didn't seem to come up to the 7th floor when we called it, although it would go up to 7th if you were in it which was very strange!Apart from this, everything was excellent. Good bus links to the city centre, good location (near some bars and restaurants-handy for us as we arrived on Friday night). The appearance of the hotel from the outside is deceiving- it is lovely inside and spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us! The room was small but clean and had everything needed including a nice hot powerful shower and decent sized bath, toiletries, nice firm mattress, a controllable radiator, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities and a good tv with all usual digital channels. Rooms were cleaned every day and maid always said hello. The hotel was a little noisy on the friday night but it is to be expected with people going out, nothing a pair of earplugs can't solve! Saturday night was quieter and Sunday was almost silent, I think there was only one other occupied room on our floor! The view out of our window was non existent but to be honest we weren't in Birmingham to sit and look out of windows haha. The buffet breakfast in the hotel was amazing, all the usual suspects for cooked breakfast including free range eggs and RSPCA approved sausages. We could not fault the breakfast, there were also all types of juices available plus continental options, croissants, fruit, cereal and so on. We left full to the brim every morning! When we had our meal on Sunday evening this was also excellent, there is still a good choice even from the set menu, and you can have all 3 courses, which we did! The food was lovely- drinks not included but we just got some water for the table. We never write reviews usually but felt the need to this time as we highly recommend this hotel. Tips; ask for a room on the outside of the building if you want a view. Also take a trip to the animal nature park nearby. A lot of fun for a fiver! A brilliant, comfortable hotel with friendly staff and fabulous food. Excellent!

The Strathallan looks like much of Birmingham's concrete architecture of the 70's. It is far better on the inside. There is a pleasant reception and bar/lounge area. There is a small gym but no pool. Reception staff were helpful and attentive. Restaurant staff were fun while being professional. The hotel is circular so rooms are slice shaped with the inside ones being smaller than the outside ones. The bathroom was adequate with full-sized bath with shower over and toiletries provided as one would expect for a hotel of this standard. Internet was free. One problem was the TV on the wall which stuck out into the room at head height.Breakfast was a good value buffet with items kept well stocked. Bar snacks are available and we ate in the restaurant. The set meal of fish was good value, but I would have preferred not to have the sauce on the plaice as I had not asked for it. There was decent vegetarian choice on the al la carte menu.Car parking on site is free and the hotel is easy to find on one of the main arterial roads into the city. It is only a few minutes drive into the city centre. There is a bus stop near the hotel entrance.Coach parties use the hotel and the noise from a group leaving early was all that disturbed a decent nights rest. We may well stay again as the offer price was so good.

Excellent Hotel. Check in and Checkout were a breeze. Good location, with bus stops just outside. Comfortable room, very clean. Excellent breakfast included in price. Comfortable lounge in Lobby.Tea /Coffee tray and ironing board provided in room. And free WiFi. What more can you ask for.

I stayed in an executive double and although I got it at a discounted price I think it would have been worth the money anyway. The room was big and luxurious with big windows, nice clean bathroom and comfy bed that I just sank into. There was a proper hairdryer and an ironing board already in the room which I liked and the general standard was high. There was a mix up with our breakfast not being shown as included but as soon as I showed the booking confirmation it was sorted with no hassle. The staff were all very professional. Parking was included in the room which is good considering it was so close to the centre. Maybe even close enough to walk but I got a taxi which was just a few minutes. The hotel sign is for Strathallan though which I wasn't expecting so I did drive past, but once I realised my mistake very easy to spot.
