Absolutely superb service
We stayed in the Fitzwilton Hotel 13/14th May (Writing this review from the hotel room as I type.) as I wanted to get it up before I forgot. We won the two nights away as part of a Facebook competition in Cork and decided to take a break away as we've recently given birth to a lovely baby boy, and needed the few days of sleep to regain some energy. The hotel itself is lovely, a bit outdated in places ( the lifts, the slowest and shakiest lifts I've ever been in - quite scary) but thats really the only fault with the interior I could find.Food is quite good, with a wide variety for breakfast in the restaurant in the mornings. Granted the morning we first had breakfast, there was a tour group of 70+ staying and the restaurant was quite messy afterwards (which is only expected! but the staff had this cleared and cleaned in the space of 25 minutes.)What really made up my mind in reviewing the hotel was the service of the staff member who was on night duty at the front desk on our final night. In the middle of the night, my partner found it difficult to breath and we had to rush to the emergency doctor on call. We approached the reception and was greeted by a lovely guy who gave us very clear and concise directions to the medical centre. The staff member (who's name I don't recall) even came outside and waited until I had brought the car around from the car park with my partner to make sure she was okay, and that she was safe.Upon return some time later, we were greeted again by the same staff member who very kindly welcomed us back and shortly after we got to our room, arrived at our door with a tray of tea and biscuits and checked to see if everything was ok and if we needed anything to let him know.I have never in all my time and trips to hotels, some large and some small; came across this level of service, friendliness and care shown to us by the staff member tonight. All other staff members too we're friendly, the bar tender in the bar is extremely friendly and knows the local area pretty well - gave us plenty of suggestions as to places to eat, drink and visit. I would highly recommend this hotel on the basis of its staff alone who make up a great team and really show that they care about their job and the hotel patrons.Location of the hotel is great, very central and only a short walk to shops, cafe's, restaurants and the middle of Waterford City.

Lovely stay at a lovely hotel
This small yet modern hotel is fabulous. The staff are helpful the parking is great rooms are nice and spacious had a lovely stay with the hotel. Nice breakfast served and room service from the bar was really delicious. Would recommend this hotel very easy to walk to city centre so the location is great also.

Good stay
Brief stay, room lovely, staff friendly & helpful. Downside was that the bar was very cold, we were there for roughly an hour, hour and a half and it stayed cold, it was a Friday night and not too late in the night.

Not a bad place to stay
We stayed here last weekend...extremely warm throughout the hotel..no air con & too much street/traffic noise to keep the window open. Staff very friendly..food ok..portion size a bit small. Decor looks better in the photos but very clean & 1 minor issue with kettle which was attended to very quickly. overall it was a pleasant stay & if I were heading back to Waterford would stay here again.

So disappointed
I have stayed in the Fitzwilton on numerous occasions as I have to work in Waterford quite a lot, but this time I was so disappointed that I will not be returning. For me, the most important thing is that the room is clean, and on this occasion it wasn't. The table was covered in dust and there were hairs in my bed, I was disgusted. I ordered room service, ordering a tomato, basil and mozzarella pasta. It arrived with no basil, no mozzarella instead having pasta and carrots in a tomato sauce. The dust on the table was so bad that when I lifted up my tray there was a mark of where it had been. Unfortunately there are not many choices in Waterford, but for me there is now one less as I will not be staying here again.
