Perfect place to stay for graduation!
Stayed at 74 State Hotel for my daughter's graduation from College of St Rose. The hotel staff was more than accommodating. They suggested a great restaurant a few blocks away, Katrinella's, and we were a two minute walk to the graduation at the Times Union Center. Melissa, the manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us. With check out at 11:00, we did not get out of the graduation until 1:00 and Melissa and the gentleman at the front desk, both of whom were extremely professional and friendly, allowed us to check out after the ceremony and they did not make us feel rushed. The bar was on the second floor with huge windows looking out to downtown. The bartender was very friendly and fun to talk to. We had five rooms all with two queen beds, as requested, and the beds were extremely comfortable, room was spotless and the bathrooms were much nicer than most hotels. We paid $103 + tax on Kayak (non-refundable rate) which is less than we would have paid for a 2 star on Wolf Road. If ever back in Albany I would look forward to staying here again!

Around Corner from Times Union Center
Stayed at this hotel mother¿¿¿s day weekend to attend my God daughter¿¿¿s graduation from the College of Saint Rose which was held at the Times Union Center. I reserved a room with two queen size beds and I totally agree with the reviewer who said these had to be the most comfortable beds outside of my own bed I have ever slept in while away from home. The room was clean with a spacious bathroom, desk area, free Wi-Fi and more than enough for 3 people to share the space. Front Desk staff was friendly and professional. I don¿¿¿t have a reason to travel to Albany again but if I did I would definitely stay here again. I got a great price on booking.com of $129 a night which included taxes and fees. Also it was a short walk, 3 blocks or so, from the Greyhound bus Station where I came in from. Plenty of nice places to eat, Jack¿¿¿s Steak House was the best.

Nice downtown Albany Hotel in the heart of it all!
I checked into this hotel on Friday the 3rd of May and it was super easy. The front desk help was really good and helpful. The check-in was a breeze as the front desk guys were really fast.My room was clean and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. The beds had fantastic pillow top coverings and a vast array of pillows and types. The AC worked very well. I was there during Blues festival week so the local hotel bar had a really good band. I ate in the bar two nights in a row and the bar food was pretty good.The drink prices were typical and the pour average. Everything is kind-of measured with a shot pour but I noticed big differences in quantity depending on who and how busy it got. Over all though pretty good. The hotel is downtown in the heart of everything and practically next door to the Times Union Center. I would recommend this hotel for sure.

Convenient to Times Union Center
74 State was a great choice for us when we attended a weekend athletic event at the Times Union Center. It's within easy walking distance and plenty of restaurants. The boutique rooms are fine and the hotel layout is great. There is a fitness room that's tiny, but was empty both times I used it. Hotel check-in staff were great when we had to request an additional night unexpectedly. The restaurant looked great but was closed both nights when we returned from our tournament, so we got excellent pizza from a local Italian place instead, which was fine with me. The only two odd things were that the valets were having a great time talking to one another and never opened the doors for us - not that I need that, but it was just odd. Also, one of the days our room wasn't serviced when we returned from the day at the Center. We called the front desk to request some extra towels and never got them, nor were they at all concerned about our room not being serviced. However, these are minor complaints that I wouldn't bother noting with a less expensive hotel. Overall this was a great hotel that I would return to next time I visit Albany.

MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER! did I say..THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER!
Hotel offers the most comfortable bed ever! All employees are very attentive from valet to bellmen to the front desk. All good here! 3.5 stars is on target!! Would recommend the award winning wine list! Bar area has a nice view. Rooms are spacious and tidy! Thanks for a great and comfortable stay! THE Beds are the best!!
